Ignore Bad Reviews; These are actually worth it!
I was scared off by the reviews right after purchasing and tried to cancel this order. I ended up purchasing a set of real pearls when I realized these were "shell pearls". Whelp, now that they've arrived, I have cancelled my return. These are gorgeous, have such a lovely luster, and I can wear them without degredation like real pearls! They have a lovely heft and are strung well. My old set was strung far too tight and looked a little bizarre when bending forward, like they sat on a wire :) These look so great, even up close. And even though I could probably find shell pearls for less, I have never seen them look so real. Very pleased. As always with Ross Simons purchases - even if the reviews scare me :)

Great finish on pearls/nice heft
The pearls are beautiful and heavy. The price is good. Cultured pearls of quality would cost far more than these, well above $1000 for the good quality ones, more for superior quality. But these are made from the linings of the shell, so fashioned from the excess nacre secreted by the oyster which produced a cultured pearl. I was happy with their luster and the clasp was silver and nicely engraved, easy to fasten. The only criticism I have is that it doesn't look as if the pearls are separated by knots, but my eyes are somewhat compromised and I may not have been able to see smallish knots. Delivery was prompt and packaging very attractive with a velveteen lined sturdy and handsome box to protect the luster and snap toggles to hold the necklace stationary. The pearls were a good length for a person who is of small or average sizes, but I wear an 18, have a larger neck and frame, and was looking for a slightly longer set for an evening gown which has a v-neck. I will keep them to wear with a boat neck or round neck because they are so nice.

Sneaky description. Not real pearls.
My necklace arrived today. It is beautiful and appears to be well made. The description leads one to believe these are actually “pearls” but they are “shell pearls “. Man made from the inner lining of the shell. Google “shell pearls” to learn more. I will keep them send wear them.

Beautiful authentic pearls!
My gf turned 90 years old and never had REAL pearls before. She received and wore them at our birthday party dinner for her. Raved about them for days. Definitely an A+ purchase. Beautifully polished pearls and a lovely silver filagree clasp. Heavy weight. Nice gift box.

Buyer beware
I like this necklace and wore it about 6-8 times and then it broke through no fault of my own. Also, the clasp never worked well, and I always had difficulty getting it on myself. Well, of course, Amazon could not take it back because it was over the 30-day return policy limit. I called the company Ross-Simmons and they said because I bought it on Amazon, they could not take it back to fix it, only if I had originally bought it from them directly. I took it to a local jewelry to see if they could fix it, it will cost me $230-250 to have it restrung properly and put on a new clasp. They told me it was not strung properly, to begin with.If you like the necklace as much as I do, buy directly from the company and find out their service policy if it breaks and they need to restring it.
