Worked perfectly
Worked as expected- very happy to revive an old machine to use as a media server on my network.

Worked perfectly to reset and restore an old iMac.
Worked perfectly. Yes, you can take a USB stick and make one of these by downloading the installer and using the proper command it terminal. But, if you have a newer Mac with Apple Silicon, it will not work. And my old Mac was crashing every time I tried to create a boot drive. So there was no way to make one myself. This did the trip immediately and allowed me to wipe my old Mac before sale. Also, if you make your own, you have to buy a memory stick anyway.

waste of money
High Sierra did not install because it may be damaged or incomplete

What a Great Find!
We were going to sell or donate my old mac so my husband wiped it clean of all data and the operating system went "poof". We tried all different ways to reload it but none worked. I discovered this after researching on line and I got it up and running and gave it to a good friend as a gift.

I was just about to give up
I was going to give this a thumbs down and refund after struggling with several attempts. The directions on the piece of paper did me no good, just doesn't pertain to reinstalling OS. Being familiar with Disk Utility and Reinstall OS, I managed to restore the OS to the internal HD. I'm happy to report the OS is installed and there were no Updates, meaning the OS on the USB drive is the latest.I would recommend NOT being connected to internet when performing this reinstall.Boot from the USB holding the ALT key when powering up.Then inside Disk Utilities, Erase and Rename internal HD where the iOS will be installed. Then choose Reinstall from this USB stick, took about 9 mins, a reboot and Whaa Laa, I was @ the enter language screen.I wanted a generic install, so I did not login to my Apple ID.Now I'm using Time Machine to create my own restore from another USB stick.Good luck to the rest of you, don't get discouraged, walk away and take a break and then come back to it.

If at first you don't succeed...
The first time I tried using this, it told me it didn't work. But I'm annoyingly persistent and tried again, making sure to follow the instructions to the T, and low and behold, it worked. Many many thanks, you saved my neck.

Worked great!
I had received a MacBook Pro from my Aunt and done the reset to remove the account info. While trying to reinstall the OS it would not finish after trying several things. Done more research and found I needed a bootable USB to install the OS.Came across this while searching and ordered it. I received it the next day and installed it following the included instructions. This worked great and now the MacBook is running great and like new.
