Picmonic + Nursing School Curriculum = Passed NCLEX
I passed the NCLEX years ago, but wanted to help those currently struggling to organize and understand all the information coming full force at your face while in nursing school. First off, I highly recommend Picmonic as a study aid. I've been using it for almost two years as I complete my BSN-DNP, and it is truly a game changer in how it grabs my attention, organizes complex information and promotes genuine curiosity. Its content on patho and pharm alone are worth the investment, and there is so much more.Secondly, this NCLEX prep manual breaks down 4 weeks of test preparation into bite size, manageable portions. For example, in Week 1, it prompts reflection on what you need to work on, what to do each day (e.g. Day 1 being "Nursing Basics" like assessments, vital signs, lab values, lung sounds) and what the focus of each day should be. What it offers, which other prep books don't, is the opportunity to label and understand each "Picmonic Card" with information relevant to the particular topic (see pics).Picmonic and it's NCLEX prep book is for all of you who can't stand the grind of reading page after page of information, or who don't have the time to memorize everything (which is all of us, am I right?). Good luck in nursing school, and know there are many ways to learn and retain this information!! -Josh

Really helpful and fun
This helped me organize my daily study schedule when I was super overwhelmed. I used it in conjunction with the Picmonic app, which is the best way to do it in my opinion. It really made studying fun and easy.

I know I'll pass in 75 questions with this NCLEX prep resource!
I've finally set a date to take the NCLEX.... April 8th! With 6 months to go I am so happy I stumbled across this NCLEX workbook on Instagram. This is 10x better than the study schedule I came up with on my own. I'd much rather watch funny stories, do crosswords, and fill out a planner that aligns to the NCLEX than read my boring textbooks!

A different way to study
This was such a fun way to learn and remember important information for the NCLEX! HOWEVER I wish they would have mentioned (maybe they did and I just don’t read) that you have to download and app that is $15/month to go along with the book! But I did pass my NCLEX on the first try with only 6 weeks of prep!

Great resource to build on! Great foundation/resource
Love this book. I feel like it enhances my long term memory and attaches memory tricks to the material.

Supplement to PAID subscription...
Throughout my life, the things I have always remembered most from studying are the ones I have made up ridiculous mnemonics for, so when I found this as I was overwhelmed with even thinking about starting to study for the NCLEX, I was super excited because it seemed right up my alley.CONS: Unless I somehow missed it in the description and reviews, it wasn't until I opened the book after it arrived that I realized the book doesn't really stand alone without their website content. I had thought that might be the case after looking at the pictures in the reviews, but thought that it just related to videos or more content that wasn't shown in the pictures where they actually teach you what the Picmonics are supposed to represent. THERE IS NO FREE ACCESS CODE IN THIS WORKBOOK, meaning you have to go online and pay additionally for a subscription to actually access the full content of videos that this entire book references, otherwise you are stuck with a limited free plan that only allows you to view a set number of videos and/or practice questions, which makes using this book essentially a pretty big disappointing waste/tease. Why this book doesn't come with a free access code or at least makes it very clear in the description before purchase that an additional paid subscription is essential to use the workbook, is really disappointing and frustrating. The statement I attached is from the first page of the book, which should be very clearly stated in their description before purchase is made.PROS: It has really incredible graphic design, crosswords, fill-in-the-blanks and other activities/games to make studying more fun than answering a bland, boring book full of practice questions. Another huge plus is the workbook is organized with a 4-week fill-in overview calendar to schedule your studying in advance, along with suggestions of what to study each day and each week leading up to your exam. It has NCLEX-style questions of the day with a Picmonic hint to remind you/reinforce the association of their tool with the concept. There's even an app for studying on the go! Each Picmonic concept is linked to a video on their website, where you can make a "free" account. They even claim on the 2nd page "Using Picmonic is as easy as 1 2 3," they just forget step 4, aka pay for the account, on top of the book you already purchased. This seems like it would be a great study supplemental workbook to go with their *paid* website subscription... But, if you are willing to pay for their subscription plan, it seems like this is the gamified study resource I had been hoping to find as someone who is a sucker for anything with achievement and badges to make it fun!
