Fits nicely with the newer WhisperLite support legs
I purchased this base for my MSR Universal. I was a bit concerned about it fitting with the newer WhisperLight stove which is what I have. As you can see it fits fit. It does not "snap" together as some have noted like with the older wire stand WhisperLight. But it goes together and stays together. You need to push on one side of the plate to slide the leg slot in. It's obvious once you get the base and try it. Honest, it's not a struggle.Plus it fits nicely along with the stove in my old Coleman Peak 1 cooking canister. It is definitely heavier than the round aluminum base but then the old aluminum provided no stability. I'll probably still carry the round aluminum. It was bigger than I expected - which should not have been a surprise. It folds up nicely. If your concern is it fitting with the new stamped metal legs, no worries, it does.

A must for WhisperLite stoves
The WhisperLite stove is a great product, but all to often it is unstable, when using, on uneven surfaces. This base adds quite a bit of stability, to the stove, when it’s in use. I believe they should be sold as a package.

Great, reliable. Get one!
Stove is stable on snow. Some would call it “extra weight” and want to use their shovel as their base instead, but I found the trillium is reliable. When I want to melt snow for water, I want something that simply works. This works! Even if it is extra weight, it is compact so shouldn’t be a packing problem. Not expensive, so just try it before you dismiss it

Perfect
Light, compacts down small enough. MSR stove attaches to the base for a nice stable surface. I have not had any issues with mine and makes the stove much easier to use.

Adds stability to the stove on loose ground ,sand or snow..
Seems real stable for my dragonfly, but the whole system is a little heavy for normal backpacking. Will be helpful in the winter when the more robust stove is necessary.

Not useful on snow
Fits the MSR XGK EX stove well, however the only situation where I ever need a stove base is when running it on snow. Unfortunately this base does very little to prevent the snow below the stove from melting. I just use a piece of foam or plastic corrugated sign board with some aluminum tape on one side now. I have no complaints about the build of the base and I should have known by looking at it that it would not work well on snow. Just keep that limitation in mind.

Very happy with this.
Works great to keep my Whisperlite stable; worked really well in the snow this January. I probably won't take it with me every time, for it's great when you need it.

Good to go
I use this with two different stoves:Primus Omnilite TI - need to bend the tabs to fitOptimus Nova - feet hook into tabsIf your doing expedition style with lots of snow melting, make/buy a stove board, this product I use for stability on scree and talus, I have used on snow but not for extended water melting, just cooking up some eats, then moving on, I would recommend if you are cooking for a longer period on snow, put your small round heat sheild that comes with most stoves under the stove, between trillium and stove, will reflect more heat away from the snow. The whole idea is that you dont become unstable on snow and spill your pot. Great product and company.
