Korg61-Key Midi Controller, (MKEYAIR61)

This micro key air is the best-built, feature-filled portable controller I've ever used!It's a little bigger than I was expecting, but the keys have good action, it's built solid, and the joystick is nicer than the one on my workstation!The main selling point for me was the Bluetooth capability. I needed a portable keyboard to use with my Korg Gadget software (running on my iPhone) and this pairs instantly and there's almost zero latency.Unexpectedly, the micro key air also comes with a usb cord and can be used as a portable keyboard for my laptop DAW.I'd definitely recommend this, and am considering buying a few more for Christmas gifts.Pros:Great responsive keysWell-built joystickMore sturdy build than many other optionsConnects to Bluetooth quicklyCan be used as a tethered usb controllerCons:Slightly bigger than expected; is an inch too wide for my laptop bag (when also carrying my laptop and charger).

For what it is, it’s really great. It’s unbelievably light, plastic but the main body of it still has a sturdy feel. Doesn’t feel hollow and there isn’t much “extra space”. You can tell they took time into trying to only give you what you need but in a good way. Design and aesthetics don’t have a wow factor but the thing has ble midi and can be battery powered so you can connect to your tablet or computer without wires! The speed and stability of the ble midi connection is indistinguishable from a wired connection *for the most part* (a few variables like devices around you tx/rx on the same spectrum causing interference, your computers drivers, batteries being low etc will affect your connection but these are things you’ll encounter maybe like 1 or 2 out of 20 uses) it’s quick to connect, shows up in your daw like any other controller and it just works: and well.Keys are short and super light so they take a bit to get used to (a few moments at most) it’s obviously not meant for any virtuoso players. Great midi keyboard that’s small, light as a feather, and Bluetooth compatible. And cheap enough to not be set back significantly if it’s damaged or somethingSoftware is amazing and actually is a generous offering. I love korg!

I bought this keyboard because it was small, compact, and lightweight, but when I received the microKEY air 61, I realized it was TOO small, especially for gigging. The keys are very tiny and though touch sensitive, the semi-weighted quality is nowhere near an actual piano. I thought I could live with semi-weighted keys, but combined with the slimness of the keys, this proved to be difficult. Bluetooth connection is not a breeze in the park, either. Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get it to connect. On top of that, latency can also be an issue. I experienced some lag with the bluetooth connection. The product also comes with a code to access the Korg ios app, but you have to pay for the app which was a bummer.Now onto the good things. This keyboard is extremely portable and definitely works with a sustain pedal. It is a perfect and simple MIDI controller. I recommend this product to people who really like something to play recreationally on the go, but not to professional players. For more experienced pianists looking for a gigging or travel instrument, I suggest going for the 88 fully-weighted hammer action keys. Though the price is a little steeper, the authentic feel is definitely worth it.I ended up returning the keyboard, but I want to clarify that this a good product for a certain type of people; it just wasn't what I was looking for.

I'm a professional piano player and generally use Nord Piano 2 ($4,900) in my music production.I was trying to find another great keyboard to be my master keyboard on the table, and for using it on my trips. Something with excellent velocity sensitivity, with great overall keyboard feeling.I've tried ALL MIDI-keyboards on the market: they all suck! All! Both for $300+ and $100. All of them have terrible velocity sensitivity. Many of them have too springy and sometimes too stiff keys, many of them are unbalanced. Even Roland A-49 surprised me in a bad way: keys were too stiff and too springy.Finally, I found Korg Microkey Air 61. And it's FANTASTIC. I'm getting pleasure almost as on my Nord Piano.Pros:- Excellent and fantastic velocity sensitivity- Excellent and just right weight of the keys: they suits for piano parts, for synths parts, for drums, for everything. They are really absolutely universal- Super compact size, but still highly playable- Lightweight- Traditional pitch-bend and modulation wheels- It has Bluetooth-connectivity- It has Korg BundleCons:- I tried to find them, but, I really can't find anyI highly reccomend this keyboard for all who create music. For beginers and for pros. If you're looking for a great keyboard in compact size with best key action on the market — Korg Microkey is for you.
