Super stoked I was able to find this on Amazon. The handle on my 21 year old truck broke. It was either take it to a shop, or do it myself. So I chose to do it myself with the help of Amazon and the best channel in the world, YouTube. Step by step I was shown how to replace the handle in my 2004 Tacoma truck. It was a little tricky, but I did it! And saved a buttload of money, I’m sure. Amazon ROCKS!

It is still working great several months later. I like the metal much better than the plastic junk it came with.

This replacement handle looks to be nearly identical to the one I removed. (not sure if the old handle was a factory part). The quality of the replacement handle appears to be at least equal to the prior handle and the fit was perfect with one exception. The gasket on the replacement handle is inferior to the old one.The gasket is made of a harder material and is not well affixed to the handle. It tends to dislodge during the installation and that is unacceptable. So, you have three solutions: simply use the old gasket (probably the best solution if the old gasket is intact), Glue the gasket to the handle prior to the installation (this will require some pre-planning and time for the glue to dry). Or fiddle with the hard plastic gasket until you get it correctly positioned (the method I used).Other than the gasket, the handle is a good fit, it works well, looks fine and is a low-cost solution to a broken door handle.The key cylinder from the old handle is transferred to the new handle. Take a minute to lubricate the metal parts of the lock cylinder before transferring it. You don’t need to drown it in oil but blow it off with an air gun and add a drop or two of oil before swapping it in.

It might work but it might fall apart when I need it too product feels hefty but Amazon sent this thing in a bag instead of a box so that’s probably how the clip broke. Had to jimmy-rig it up to make sure it wouldn’t fall out.

Replacement on 2001 Tacoma…First off I want to thank this part company for providing a better quality metal part than the standard plastic junk out there!! The process for replacement wasn’t terrible but not something I want to do again soon which would likely happen with a cheap plastic replacement part from other companies. Spend the few extra bucks for metal folks, it should save you future headaches!!I am thrilled with the metal construction which includes the underside of the handle also, which is where the old plastic part broke apart! The fit was spot on and it works better than new again!Few tips on the job…watch a few YouTube videos on this process and you’ll have a good know how of how this goes. The toughest parts of this for me were removing and replacing the interior door handle due to the rod and clip attachment. And the upper rod and clip that attaches to the door handle itself. This wasn’t a terribly hard job, but a couple of things can be frustrating, but just stick with it and don’t force anything or risk breaking plastic clips.Overall, I am very happy with the quality of this replacement part and how well it fit! Five stars all around!!

I replaced my stock passenger side, outside door handle. It said it would not fit but, it does fit 2004 Toyota Tacoma. I broke one of the little clips that holds the rod to the inside door handle. It's a bit of a pain to replace but ,just take your time. I did mine in an hour. Watch a YouTube video on how to, for tips on removing and replacing. Good luck!
