Basic weight for cheesemaking
I found this adequate, not exceptionally sturdy, but sturdy enough. The way it works is easy to set up and take apart, but won't hold position when weight is removed, due to the design...it isn't meant to. I like the color and natural look of it, nothing fancy, just a tool to make cheese. Costly frills that are wasted on a cheese press, are not there, so anyone can afford to buy and use this item.

Nice little cheese press
All the cheese press I have seen were over 200.00. This was only around 30.00 & have the mold with it. I have used it several times & it works Great for what I am doing. I only use 2 gallons of milk at a time but this would hold double that. I am very happy with this cheese press!

Well made, but small
This is a well-made and simple press. It is made with a very good grade of plywood, and for semi-soft cheeses that don't need heavy pressing, it will work splendidly. It was well-packaged for shipping from the Ukraine, and arrived about two weeks before the estimated arrival date, which was a pleasant surprise.I'm giving it four stars because in the description it states that this press is appropriate for making hard cheeses, and some may have indeed had success doing that that. My issue, and one that I'm sure others have/will encounter, is that most hard cheeses call for a pressing with at least 45 to 50 pounds of weight, and this press really doesn't provide enough surface area on top to accommodate that amount of weight. The material it is made of is a strong plywood, and could likely support the weight needed to press the harder cheeses, but the surface area on which to put the weights is really small, less than one square foot, so without a lot of modifications, the average home cheesemaker will have difficulty pressing with much weight. This would be a good beginner press for the hobby cheesemaker, maybe as a first step in cheesemaking with softer and semi-hard cheeses, but the serious hobbyist would do better to steer clear of this and invest in something sturdier that will accommodate the weight necessary for the harder cheeses, or even build one yourself. It really wouldn't need to be something much more complicated than this one, just bigger because of the weight issue.

Works just fine
I've used this press twice. I use 5lbs & 10lbs plate weigjts for pressing and this is perfect for those weights. Nice, simple and smooth operation. Easy to clean. Though being made 100& of wood, I also disinfect with white vinegar before putting it away.

Adequate, but easy to outgrow
It works OK for low pressures. Anything more than about 10 pounds and your weight is liable to be off-centered and you'll end up with an oblong cheese disk. This one is fine for pressing paneer and ricotta, but not much more. I'd spend the extra money and get the larger model that uses screws instead of weights.I ended up being disappointed. I used what I learned from this one and built a much better one with a few dollars in parts from the hardware store. The mold included is very sturdy (thick plastic). The follower is a bit small -- you'll have some cheese leaking out the edges if you don't repack carefully.
