Actually not at all. That’s mainly due to the magnet behind slightly inside the rubber, so it absorbs the energy and slow down the magnet attraction. So you don’t have this loud «cling» noise.

Q: Can I use this if I have carpet floors? All the examples are on hardwood or laminate floor.

I think you would have to use longer screws to go trough carpet and into flooring underneath

Q: there is no adhesive for the part that attaches to the door? I do not want to drill into the door itself . How do I attach? Please help

Try Gorilla Glue or “no more nails”… or any grab adhesive. The plate may pull off the door with the strength of the magnet however

The magnets are actually the same size as a new five pence coin and just as thin. Don't let that fool you with the power they have. I've installed them to hold closed a heavy internal sliding barn style door and I have to give the door a quick jolt to break the contacts in order to open the door. well worth the money.
