Great little device
I use my main PC as a music server sometimes and the current gaming orientated motherboard, while having attention made to the headphone sockets' sound quality, lacks a SPDIF output. This little adaptor does the job brilliantly and connected up to the relevant pins on the motherboard with ease (my eyes aren't so good these days), but with patience and the motherboard manual there was no issue locating and connecting the correct pins up. Works fine using the 'optical Tos-Link output - no ground loops -' feeding a little external dac and then to the small sound system I use in the 'office' with no noise, dropouts or things of that nature.Perfect for my needs and highly recommended if your PC lacks any digital audio outputs.

Little tip
Works perfectly, once I worked out that i needed to find something to plug the 5v jumper into (my mobo only had spdif and ground pins for spdif out). I stole a 5v pin from an unused usb header. (Check your mobo manual, don't use a 12v, you'll probably fry it).

Makes SPDIF coax accessible from Z97 motherboard
Did the job perfectly of allowing access to the motherboards SPDIF header to an external coax connector, allowing digital audio to be passed to my surround sound amp.

Works as described
Used to explore the difference between SPDIF and HDMI sound. Already had a suitable connection header on my motherboard so this added the port needed.

Doesn’t work with ASUS Board - UPDATE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS
Plugged into ASUS board and SPDIF into a BOSE soundbar and nothing. Device registers as unknown and will not attempt to get any drivers etc. Just get a PCIE Sound Card for not much more.UPDATE:Finally got round to removing this after purchasing an actual PCIE sound card and found the 5V line to be completely burned through. Jumpers were connected as per ASUS SPDIF board pin out. This is incredibly dangerous and could have done more damage to not only my computer but the rest of my house. Incredibly dangerous product.

Does the job - installed in Gigabyte Z370 HD3
Coax connection works well, the optical/TOSLINK socket is a little awkward and the Optichord "cable" I had would not seat correctly. Might be better with other cables.
