The Other Flute: A Performance Manual of Contemporary Techniques Plastic Comb – January 1, 1989

This book comes with a plastic comb binding, but it still very durable nonetheless. Of course, the contents are second to none, especially with describing fingerings for microtones and multiphonics. Be sure to test with flute players, not all flutes respond the same way to some of the suggested fingerings. Overall, very reliable book. I don't know what I would do without it in respect to learning about the flute's myriad extended techniques.

This book is specially useful for those who want to understand and apply advanced flute techniques such us microtonal pitches and multiphonics. It covers also special fingerings to handle good tone production over dynamics range and to render particular tone colors.Suggested for advanced flutist but also for everybody who is going to improve traditional tecnique widening his/her view point.

This is a very good book or gift for any flutist. This is very comprehensive and it explains all concepts very well. This is not a book for beginners, however, intermediate players will love this book and learn a lot from it.

Robert Dick is revered in the flute community as an iconoclastic performer and composer. This resource gives a glimpse into the inner workings of contemporary flute playing. A comprehensive guide and a must have for performers and composers.

The book will help bring new techniques to my playing.

Our son plays the sax and flute. This book has really good excersises. We feel this book helped him get into Interlochen.
