How do you turn it off?

There's no turn off button. stop using it and it will go into sleep mode after a while. However, the battery last forever. I am still using mine from 2017.

What does hand pitch mean? Does the counter sequence when the device is pitched or tilted?

It’s a tally counter that can be used for many applications. For example, you can count the number of pitches in a baseball game.

I don't know if this product is very helpful in this situation. However, it's a very good counter for keeping up with chorus and exercise timing

How to adjust the lanyard?

You can't. I decided to keep mine intact. If you don't prefer it, the only real option is to cut it off, because although the lanyard string is very long there's no real way to shorten it to taste. I swear by the counter however...I absolutely love it. I use it for my mantra recitations and it makes my spiritual practices a lot easier. Hope this helped. :)
