The Last Kingdom Series Series Books 1 - 3 Collection Set by Bernard Cornwell (The Last Kingdom, The Pale Horseman & The Lords of the North)

Books arrived very quickly, well packed and in strong box to keep the set in. I have not started reading them yet as I have been so engrossed in the TV series and realise that there will be differences in the written and filmed versions but I have no doubt that the books will be wonderful.The TV series is absolutely brilliant in terms of production and acting throughout - Uhtred is a spellbinding central role and his complex character is brought to life and played to perfection - I have been on the edge of my seat throughout the whole of series 2.

Brilliant to read something so historic and factual.Far better than the film version but isn't that always a given but still good.

I watched the TV series when it came out and enjoyed it. However, as with the Sharpe series a film production just can not capture the writing of Bernard Cornwell . So I thought it was time to read the books and I would recommend to anyone who enjoyed that enjoyed the story on film to go back and read the books. Typical Cornwell page turners every one with the bonus of comparing the variations between the two, You will prefer the books, I know I did.

Bernard Cornwell is a genius, its books are a perfect mix of history and adventures! Epic!

Great books! They are fun to read, but are still based on historical events. The main character Utred is not a real figure, but I find the juxtaposition between his two worlds interesting.

If only I'd read the other reviews prior to wasting my money! Some weeks ago I purchased "Bernard Cornwell The Last Kingdom Series Books Collection Set 1-11" which indeed, did go on to list the whole eleven books. So far so good. The parcel arrived today, and I was so excited to be able to give hubby his surprise. BUT when I opened the parcel, there were only the three pictured. So now I have to source the next 8 books in the series.Seller should be booted off Amazon and boycotted
