It is clean and free of holidays. Nothing is preset. Very customizable.

Q: Approximately how big is each individual square?

3/4 of an inch tall, 7/8 of an inch wide. I can fit 7 words in maximum although I have very small hand writing.

Q: Will this fit the field notes or field books.

Yes! The Midori inserts are passport size which is slightly smaller than Field Books and the paper is thin but inks don't bleed through and there is very little ghosting. I really enjoy using mine!
