Both answers are incorrect. Can you wear it in water? Yes. Should you? No. Does 10k gold tarnish? Yes! 10k is 41.7% gold. The remaining % is copper and silver. Only pure 24k gold doesn't tarnish. When water evaporates, it leaves behind minerals and impurities. These minerals can cause micro scratches and the chain will lose its luster. You will then have to polish the chain and every time you polish it, it will lose gold and gradually lose weight. This chain is 30" and only 5 grams. That tells me it is hollow or wafer thin. So it will not withstand many polishings. You then risk damaging the structural integrity. If treated properly, that chain will outlive your grandchildren.
