Could I use this to sight in .223 at or beyond 300 yards?

I find the glass quality and magnification are barely enough to see bullet holes in a target at 100 yards. At x36, it's blurry.

Is the scope able to use a digiscope adapter for cell phones?

A universal adapter should work because the eyepiece is pretty standard but since I don't have one I can't guarantee that 100%

What is the thread pitch? I want t o mount it to a camera tripod with 1/4-20 threaded mount.

I do not know the thread pitch, but there is a threaded screw mount that appears to be a standard size. It fits the camera tripod that i have without a problem. Suggest you write the support team for the scope. support@roxant.com

how would it work for long distance mountain viewing 10 miles or so?

It would work fine. Any scope at higher magnification will give you a dimmer image, but the optics on this scope are excellent and would do the job for you.
