Fantastic!
This is a fantastic pepper mill. The adjustable ring makes it easy to select your coarseness, and the grind mechanism does a fantastic job of pouring out plenty of perfectly grinder fresh pepper. The function of this mill is outstanding. The only personal preference I could add is, I wish this mill came in a larger size. I like big 15+ inch restaurant mills that fill your hands and you can really get your grind-on! This is a terrific mill, but if they ever make this in a big beautiful restaurant style large mill, I will purchase that one immediately. If you are looking for a quality mill that pours out good doses of freshly cracked black pepper that fanatics like us love, you will love this mill.

A nice step up
Sometimes I like to get familiar with one star reviews to get a different perspective on a product. I kept finding 2 complaints; one was that folks couldn't get the top screw off to refill the mill. That gold bead on top does NOT come off. The way you fill it is to lift the top straight up. The second common complaint was people assuming their product was used because there already were some peppercorns in it. I went out to the company website and it turns out that's the way they like to ship them so you can try it immediately. So if you use it correctly, it seems to be great. A big step up from an acrylic one we had been struggling with for a long time. I won't know about durability for a while.

Great pepper mill!
My husband got me a short squat silver looking pepper mill with a crank handle grinder on top. He was "sold" this one by an "expert" at Sur la Table. It's awkward to use and a devil to refill - which is OFTEN! He was impressed, I was not.I saw reviews online stating this Cole & Mason pepper mill to be one of the top rated for the price. I got one for my husband several years ago. Everything was as promised, from the ease of filling, to the ease of setting the adjustable grinding, the actual grinds, and the looks and quality. It was all there! Finally, I've ordered the matching Salt Mill and am looking forward to a matched salt and pepper set that has been missing at our table for years! I'm just disappointed the salt mill does not also come with PRIME free shipping. No other store in our area carries it - online anyway. It would take a whole day to search during the holiday season. So a day of searching versus the $6+ shipping cost.

Works well, affordable, easy to fill, nice quick grind
I have been using a really bad designed pepper mill from the big box store for years, decided to throw the bad pepper mill in garage and buy a nice one. Cost was not really an issue because I use the mill every meal. Based upon the poor ratings of even the most expensive pepper mills on Amazon I decided to go with this pepper mill. I like the design much better than the older one that used the screw at the top of the handle to adjust the grade.THIS MILL DOES NOT HAVE A SCREW ON THE TOP TO ADJUST .. the screw is fake you just pull the top assembly off to fill, it’s a press fit with no screws. The grind is really nice from dust to chunks, quick to adjust and no guessing or fiddling around with how tight the screw adjustment is or is not. Happy with the design, functionality and looks and priced nice as well. One side note the company wasted no money on the packaging lol, the pepper mill arrived loosely tossed into a box with other items, makes me think the packaging is a hold over from big box store shelf displays.

Great, Old fashioned Mill with Modern Ease of Use
I already loved the Cole & Mason Derwent Pepper MiIl but I am not a modern person and I wanted the more traditional appearance of the Peugeot mill but with the ease you get with Cole & Mason mills. the problem I have with my Peugeot grinder is that the grind controlling finial on top would constantly move while I was grinding and it would go from fine ground to big chunks. The Ardingly has a great old fashioned appearance even Julia Child would love, but it is refilled by removing the "knob" like part at the top and not the finial. The grind setting is changed by rotating the bottom of the mill while squeezing to some clearly marked marks for each setting. I did have to return the first one due to the knob coming loose from the mill but so far my replacement has been terrific. This is a bit of a design flaw and hopefully Cole and Mason can resolve it. It is still a great mill and Cole and Mason was very helpful with my return (you return it to where you bought it).

Amazing
I never realized how much a pepper grinder could change my life. After years of using cheap pepper grinders (either disposable or from discount stores), I decided to buy a high quality one. And I LOVE it.The grinder is quickly adjustable to ensure you get the right size grind, whether course or fine. It holds a good amount of pepper, but don’t try to unscrew the top!!! You simply need to pull the top off the grinder and leave the metal in place. LOVE IT.I included a photo with the top removed and showing the grind size from fine to course. Ran out of room on my place — there’s one larger/more course grind size than I’ve shown

After One Month of Use....Loving It
I've been using a spice mill to grind my pepper for some time now, having given up on the many pepper grinders I tried that didn't cut the peppercorn (corny, I know) or didn't last more than a few months. We'll see how it stands the test of time, but I love the way this grinder performs! There is a noticeable difference in the size of the pepper pieces at each setting. Adjusting the grind is a snap, or two or three - literally. The grinder seems to be well built and looks great in the kitchen or on a formal table. I pretty much love it. If it doesn't last though, I'll update my review.

I returned this purchase, as it was impossible to get it open.
I was not able to open the pepper mill, to add more peppercorns, even after reviewing the video on the Cole and Mason website, in case there was a trick to it. No trick - just wouldn't open.
