A very great clipper for the price
The Wahl Icon clipper is great so far, which I have had about 3 months now. As with all products, there are good & bad points, so I will jump right into it instead of giving long winded or a drawn out review:-THE GOOD-The clippers are very sturdy and are well built. Which I have to take into account that others may be rougher on their belongings, I know it happens. But for me, if I pay for something I take care of it. I have my own little bag and box set to house the clippers & attachments guards, which don't come with the set in the box[which I will explain later in the bad section].The cut of the clippers is very good, although not precise professional grade. I'm sure you can buy a more expensive set of clippers like the Oster 76 or the professional grade of Wahl clippers, but I bought these for the value and the positive reviews I seen on Amazon for the Icon clipper. For the most part, they cut very well and even although you might have to make a few passes to ensure no stray hairs were missed. The motor on these clippers are very powerful and seem to hold up well. In the past I have owned clippers that had very weak motors and sounded dull. These do not sound weak, nor do they have an abrasively loud noise but you can definitely tell when they are on by the sound and the ensuing hair that falls when you use them. The Wahl Icon cuts through very thick hair effortlessly and does a good job even with attachments being used. I had a set of Oster Fast Feeds and those didn't leave an even finish because the attachment guards were spring loaded and didn't fit snug. The Icon attachments fit perfectly and leave a very even finish. You may require a few passes but they really get the job done.-THE BAD-The attachment combs are not a full set: although they have rare guard sizes like 1/2 inch or 1 1/2 inch not found in other sets of Wahl clippers, it is missing guards like number 5 and 7. This wasn't a big issue for me since I have owned a previous Wahl set of attachments and had the missing 5 and 7 guards but to some people this might be a big deal. I know you can purchase a set of attachment guards through amazon, although if you are looking for all of them in one clipper the Wahl Icon might not be for you. These are corded clippers and not cordless as many modern sets are. Some will not purchase just because of this but I'd rather get a more powerful motor in my clipper and have to plug them in as opposed to buying a cordless clipper which has an inferior motor. This set does not have a barber's cape, a box to use for attachments, or anything to store the clippers in which means you either keep them in the box it came in or simply use something you already have. I have probably purchased two other Wahl clipper sets, so I had a box to store the attachments and a bag to hold the clippers in.The Wahl Icon does get extremely hot after 10-20 minutes of use and if you are like me, you have a full set of thick hair. If you are using them to buzz all your hair off, you may not have to worry about them getting very hot. But if you like leaving length and styling your hair then these will indeed get hot. The handle area is the part that heats up and you may have to turn them off and let them cool before proceeding to finish, but again it's not a big deal to me since there's a trade off for getting such a strong motor. In conclusion, I gave the Wahl Icon a 5 star rating because they do the job very well and seem to be built to last.

Great set of clippers
Very happy with the Wahl Icon hair clippers. It's one of Wahl's "professional" clippers, but I use it only for myself. I was going to buy the Wahl Senior but I read somewhere that it was pretty loud. This is not loud at all. It also fits my hand well and is not heavy (I am a woman with small hands) nor does it have excessive vibration.Switches are often the first things to wear out on any electrical/mechanical device (even "professional" ones) so I plug the clippers into a 2 prong Power Port Switch Adapter (3 prong would work too) and just keep the clipper switched to "ON". The I plug the adapter into the wall outlet and use its ON/OFF switch. When the adapter switch finally fails (if it fails) I will just replace it with another adapter. The adapters (lots of different brands) are a only a few dollars each on Amazon. Better than having the ON/OFF switch fail on the Wahl, which would be expensive to repair if it's out of warranty. My hair is short, but most of the enclosed clipper guides are too short for my use , so I also bought the ClipQuik set of 6 XL clipper guides, the longest being 2.5 inches. I start with the longest Wahl guide--1 inch-- and go up from there using the the ClipQuik guides.Just a great set of clippers...Well worth the price; should last a long time.

Super high end powerful clippers for those who cut regularly.
These clippers are the best I have ever owned. I shave my head every 2 weeks so these have had a ton of use and I have used it on fellow soldiers too. I am not a pro barber or anything but have a great deal of experience cutting my own hair and my mates after spending so many years in the military. The cut on the first swipe, the motor is at least twice as powerful as my old chrome wahl that I got at a popular Wall box store. It doesn't come with a full set of guards and all that but it came with the ones I use(.5) and I have a ton of guards from many other failed clippers. It has been 4 years and still running strong, though need to get the blades sharpened, however that is not a fault of the machine. Just make sure you clean and oil after every use.

Solid machine, vibrates a lot.
Ok, so this is a solid hair cutter. I had a cheap hair cutter for years that cost $25 back in the day. I used this cheap one for almost a decade and finally wanted to upgrade to one that cut more hair in each pass. I was tired of cutting and cutting then re-cutting my hair with these underpowered clippers. So I bought the Wahl Professional Icon Clipper and was pretty impressed. Heavy construction, chops through hair like soft butter. Cut down my haircut time by 60%. Comes with all the plastic attachments you will ever need to cut different lengths of hair. Runs fast and cool. The only negative thing I have to say about the clipper is it really vibrates heavy in the hand. They have a finger attachment that comes with the clippers which allows you a better grip. This helps control the clippers better but the vibration is still very noticeable. I can see doing a few haircuts, but using this all day may be a little much because of the vibration. Just a heads up, otherwise greaty!
