This is a review of the Runzi Asparagus Pot Stainless Steel Steamer Cooker with Basket and Lid on Amazon, purchased in February 2024.I was looking for a tall-ish steamer pot to be stored in a specific larger pot...to save space in my limited cabinets. I found this pot at the right price, and the right size,* but was concerned in reading the AI “Customers say” description, explaining that while the reviews were generally good, some customers complained about corrosion stains. Yikes.Based on Amazon’s excellent return policy, and reading other reviews, I finally decided to go for it. I would try the pot carefully and return it if corrosion was a problem.So far I’ve used the pot three times, each as a steam basket for veggies (OF NOTE...never with salt, to remove this from the corrosion issue).So far, so good. In fact, I’m really learning to love this unique sized steaming pot. I love that is fits neatly on my 6” (smaller) rear burners (glass top stove). It also steams my veggies faster than expected, or t least seems that way. There’s only about an inch of space space between the pot bottom and the steamer basket bottom, so I steam it slow and easy to avoid potentially scorching the pot bottom.After each use I carefully wash, dry and inspect the pot for signs of corrosion, but it keeps looking as good as new with no conspicuous corrosion.Although made offshore, the stainless steel seems of decent quality; pot, basket and lid. I might hypothesize that the reason so many customers have experienced corrosion is that the products may have been delayed at sea during the pandemic—for who knows how long—leading to salt corrosion? Purely speculative as I am neither an engineer nor metallurgist!*I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 for one picky reason...and really, my own fault. The measurements showing the size of the pot are in centimeters, not inches, meaning I had to use a calculator to convert. And...the stated height (20.5cm) is easy to misinterpret as the arrows only measure from the bottom of the pot to the top of the handles, instead of the top of the pot. Bottom line, I couldn’t store it as intended. But still, it’s a great pot that I would recommend to any home user, and I’m already feeling guilty for giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Shame on me. ;o)

Asparagus stays in the basket; doesn't slip through the bottom.

I don’t like having to break asparagus in half to make it fit in a pan, so this pan is perfect. When you lift it basket inside it drains the water for you. It’s great for cooking spaghetti also.

I needed a small circumstance pot for frying fish and shrimp. This works great in two ways: the basket lets me safely raise the frying oil to 350 and lower food in with hot oil splash; and the circumference doesn’t take up much room among my pans for storage. Oil is so expensive now, I can use this small diameter pot, use less oil, and then sieve out the bits and save for future use. (I use a fine sieve, not the basket.)

Review for "Runzi Store" Stainless Steel Asparagus pot, 4 Quart capacity, on July 30, 2022. Fits the top and bottom sections of our dishwasher. The height gives good capacity. The narrow width is great for the dishwasher and for storage. If any food related spots develop, which happens in stainless steel pots, I hand scrub with Bon Ami cleaner and a copper scrubber, briefly rinse and then put in our dishwasher, which has a sanitizing rinse. Works perfectly on our induction Cooktop. Used for steaming and boiling tasks. The package it came it indicated it could be used for frying. This was the narrowest available tall pot at the time that I purchased it. No brand name is indicated on the pot.

This pot had rust spots on the bottom as I received it. I cleaned the pot and dried it. Every time I use it, the rusts spots get worse. I dry it thoroughly after each use. I don't use steel wool. The rust comes back as I use it for steaming or boiling. You can taste the rust in the food. I returned this and will get something else.
