Best value!! Buy these!
Best for the money! If you actually read the reviews like I did you will be happy with these. The holes don't line up perfect, but with a tap of the hammer the bolts go in place fine. They lack instructions for assembly. There is a poorly printed photo to follow. This being said of you have a little knowledge of how to assemble stuff this won't stump you. I had all 4 J hooks assembled and on my truck in about an hour. They hold nice and once loaded with a kayak on each side they held just fine down the highway at 70MPH. These beat spending hundreds on a similar set up by the big name brands!! The straps it came with I was skeptical of until I got my hands on them, they are right for the job and easy to use.

Cheap and works!
So, first off the directions are horrible and grainy, but I figured it out by grouping everything and thinking it through (I’ll attach photo so you can decide the difficulty yourself). The screws fit the holes, I didn’t need to do anything to adjust them- it just took a a while to tighten properly because you have to get the screws pushed ALL the way in the tighter or else the screw just twists with the bolt. I would suggest doing this but using a rubber mallet to hit the top of the screw down, because it’s a big pain in the butt when you actually have it mounted (which is what I did). You’ll probably want a wrench to do this, as no tools are provided (two different sized bolts). That’s said, we had our first outing with these J bars AND used the included straps (we have crank ones but they seemed a little excessive for what we needed). Absolutely no issues with the kayaks, although we did only travel about 10 miles. They are easy to use, just make sure ALL the screws are tight.Overall, I’m am happy with this purchase! They will do great and are affordable. I might want to save up for ones that collapse, but given Covid and how I almost never drive, I don’t mind leaving these guys on there.

It is simple, works well, but was a little difficult to assemble
It is simple and appears like it will hold up well. For the price, I am happy with the rack. It is not too difficult to attach or remove. While it works fine, it was a bit difficult to assemble. There are rubber covers over the center hold down block, and the holes in the rubber are just a tad smaller than the provided bolt heads. This made it very difficult to insert the bolts properly into the clamping mechanism and tighten down. The bolts are carriage bolts, and have to be pushed through the rubber far enough to engage into the square hole of the mounting plate. It is difficult to push them through enough so that they will lock in place. Also, once you have that part together, the provided thumb nuts are not as nice as my other Kayak Rack. They seem to work well enough, but are smaller and more difficult to tighten. Also, they do not appear to be of the same quality as my other rack.I would purchase again, but just know that it will take more time to assemble. There are more expensive ones that are easier to assemble and install.

Affordable and Secure Kayak Commutes
Sturdy and affordable kayak holder! It’s been holding or mounted on our SUV for months without issues. Easy enough to dismount your kayak solo if standing and reaching down the weight are within your range of motion. It feels safe carrying the single kayak.

Rust in a tear
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Work as described but I have owned for 1 year and now is beginning to rust. I was my vehicle regularly and this is disappointing.

Outstanding Company Support!
I bought these not expecting a whole lot because they are less expensive than most other kayak racks. When I received them I was impressed by how nice they are. Then I became disappointed when I began assembling the rack and found out I was missing a few of the parts. Customer service from the company turned out to be outstanding in helping to resolve the problem and they sent me the parts I needed. Amazon was also helpful in resolving the problem. In the end, I'm happy with the quality of the rack (especially given the economical price), as well as the help received from the company, the vendor, and Amazon. These racks will work well for hauling my lightweight kayaks on my old SUV's roof crossbars, and I would not hesitate to buy from this company. again. Assembly does take a while and requires several different tools. The only "con" I have to say about the fitment of the product is that the bottom plate that holds the rack to the crossbar is not shaped as it should be for the best fit on common flattened oval crossbars. A handy person might want to modify (flatten) them to fit better. Otherwise, they can be used as-is, but the center of the fastening bracket will not make contact with the crossbar. In my case, I found that putting a strip of foam weather stripping in the center of the U-shaped fastening bracket really helped the bracket to tighten to my crossbars and also helps prevent scratching or damaging the crossbars.
