The retrospec Solana is a great exercise mat!
The retrospec Solana exercise mat is wonderful! I selected black as the color option. It is 1 inch thick (72" x 24" x 1") so there is plenty of padding to make for relatively painfree stretching. It is more comfortable than the PT tables at the rehab center where I am receiving treatment for a sprained ankle! The mat is easy to roll up for storage and to unroll for daily usage. I feel I made the right choose in selecting this brand for the features offered and at a reasonable price. I haven't tried cleaning it yet because I just purchased it.

My favorite yoga mat ever
Love this mat. It's big enough to do sun salutations, firm enough for balances poses, and the best part is the one-inch depth. It's a soft resilient cushion that protects you and makes floor work comfortable and easy.

Cushy and comfortable mat
Noticeably thicker than other yoga mats and very comfy/well cushioned. I have bad knees and this makes sitting and kneeling much more comfortable. The carrying sling is nice, but slides around pretty easily. But way better than carrying it without the sling/strap for sure. A bit pricey, but I feel like it's worth it for the quality.

Good, but not 1 inch thick!
While I like this pad, it is actually 3/4" thick and not 1 inch as stated. The other dimension are 24" by 73", so slightlly longer than stated. Now that I'm using this pad I think that this is plenty thick enough and any thicker would be hard to roll up and too heavy. It comes rolled the wrong way, probably to protect the main use surface. I roll it the opposite way so that it lays flat on the floor. It also was rolled so that a deep crease formed on one end. I hope this will disappear over time. The firmness of this mat is excellent and gives you support without being squishy.

Love it, and would buy again.
Love this exercise mat. Durable, comfortable, and seems a little longer and thicker.

Great for bad knees!
I recently started exercising again and this mat makes it much more comfortable. The thickness really helps my knees, which aren’t as young as they used to be. The only thing I’ve noticed is that I have a little more trouble with my balance because my foot seems to move more because the mat is soft and thick. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, and the benefit to my knees is worth it! Some people have mentioned an odor. I’m very sensible to that and I haven’t noticed any smell coming from it. I don’t find it too bulky to carry, given its thickness. I definitely recommend this mat, especially if you want to alleviate pressure on your knees and joints!

I approve 👌
Ok, I bought two of these, one dark green and one "sage" green or something. It was kind of odd that they didn't ship together. One arrived a couple of days after the first, but no matter...I read A TON of reviews on a TON of different yoga mats on Amazon before choosing to try these. I was looking for something long or extra-long that would be a good fit for my boo (6ft tall). As well as something that could roll up easily (as in, it comes with its own straps or a carrying case) but wouldn't cost a whole lot. I mean, we're talking about foam mats here — I don't need one engineered by a rocket scientist. 🚀 I definitely wanted the extra padding for our knees, and there are many options to choose from on Amazon — but I noticed a lot of comments regarding [bad] smells. Even in the reviews for this one. Still... based on ratings, price, and other factors, I chose to take my chances with this listing. I will say, both mats appear to match the colors advertised. 👍.When the first (dark green) one arrived, it was packaged neatly and there was nothing defective about it. I made it a point to unwrap it immediately to see if it had a weird smell & was very pleased that it did not! 😀.Then, when the second one (light / sage green) arrived I did the same thing. Immediately inspected & unwrapped it. THIS ONE SMELLED ODD. Hard to describe, but it's like a strange manufacturing smell. Bear in mind, these are made of foam material & dyed somewhere along the process. So, whether the smell was a remnant of the dying process or just from being stored in a smelly corner of a warehouse, I'm not sure. But again, for comparison, the dark army-green colored mat did not come with any untawdry smells. So that seemed odd & is why I suspect maybe it has to do with the dying process. Maybe it's more likely to happen with certain colors. 🤷♀️.HOWEVER, it's worth mentioning that it was only a temporary unpleasantness. I unrolled it, hung it over a chair to let gravity kind of deform it, and let it air out for a few days (indoors). The room didn't get over saturated by the smell / it didn't linger thankfully and the mat itself didn't have a lingering smell either. After airing out for a couple (or a few) days it smelled "normal," whatever that really is. Haha. So I rolled it back up for storage. Our closet doesn't smell funny or anything. IT'S ALL GOOD 👍.The quality of the strap(s) provided seems "economy" to me. Pretty standard elastic straps. I'll be impressed if they last very long. The stitching on them is fine although it doesn't seem particularly sturdy, but they work and do their job just fine right now! I like that it's all sewn together as one piece, so that it doubles as a handle to carry them with. Just because they are so thick, especially when rolled up, I would prefer elastic straps that aren't so thin — but I did choose one of the more economical options around here. So, that's a "you get what you pay for" kinda thing I feel like..I'm looking forward to getting back into stretching & yoga and glad to now have a couple of mats that could also work great for outdoor sessions, thanks to the thickness of them!
