No it does not collapse however you can lower table to shortest height and rotate table perpendicular to floor so you are able to store nicely

Q: Would this hold an imac?

I wouldn’t take the chance, no. I found that the knobs were difficult to tighten enough so the table top doesn’t move. If you lean on the table top with something on it, it will move/tilt. I wanted to use as a painting table but table top wasn’t sturdy enough. Now there’s a small plant, napkins and a box of cake on it. We don’t put any pressure on it and leave flat. Hope this helps.
