protect your axe at all costs
ok guys if your like me you just spent $200 on a killer ( no pun intended) axe that looks as good as it preforms and you got to get some really stubborn large tree stumps out and make the ground level you need this to protect against missed swings and hitting just under the head smashing and chipping the hickory handle this leather cover helps absorbs that impact I have 5 stumps that is hard olive wood and im on it daily and noticed my handle was starting to take a bit of a beating in that area glad they offer this its well worth it

EXPENSIVE LEATHER
Helko Werk is synonymous with quality and I have never been disappointed with anything I've purchased from them. That being said, you'll pay a premium price for a premium product. And they are easy to contact if you have any questions at all.Edit: I had originally posted that I had soaked the leather handle guard, (collar), in warm water. Since then I contacted Helko Werk and asked if this was the proper way to attach the collar. They informed me that it is not, and soaking in water can actually shorten the life of the collar. They recommend the collar be attached "As Is" after which you may treat it with a leather conditioner.

Protect your investment
I purchased this for my new Hults Bruk Almike Small All-purpose Hatchet. This is quality leatherwork - the guard is thick yet supple enough to conform to handle. Lacing is sturdy - I took my time and really worked the lacing with a rubberized needlenose pliers to get it absolutely as snug as possible. Nothing broke, no issues at all. Fits perfectly and gives me peace of mind that my heirloom-quality hatchet will be protected against overstrikes. There are less expensive handle guards out there - also, people use paracord for this application. You could probably do it cheaper than Helko Werk, but it looks amazing and will stand up to punishment. Go with quality.
