Lonely Planet Experience Japan: Get away from the everyday (Travel Guide)

A good introduction to Japan, but perhaps some previous knowledge of the country would be required, before using the guide, as there is a lot in this little book. Nicely illustrated and written, and inspiring. Not enough detail, on its own, for a first time visitor, so use it together with another guide. This is more to inspire, rather than give full detailed information.

A great guide to Japan and an interesting layout. Lots of facts and tips. Would recommend this book.

It had all of the places we were going to and lots of good advice and interesting places to visit. small enough to take away on holiday.

Not as easy to use.

Full of useful info great pics and excellent detail. There could have been more info on how to pronounce Japanese words with phonetic descriptions.

I'm planning a trip to Japan, actually returning after 40 years. Excited but trying to decide where to go. I've purchased three other books, two are decent, the third was so so. Then I saw this one. The maps are an excellent planning tools. This book approaches travel in a way that allows the traveler to customize the plan instead of steering people to the usual places. I bought the soft copy, it's notoverly bulky, content is augmented w/ QR codes. This IS the book I needed.

The book looks very good. Not the average lonely planet and very interesting layout.

The book has really good printing quality and is full of photos. That's the positive part.The negative part is that there is no solid information (at least what I consider "solid"). Just general "experiences" talk and some "random" businesses that might provide them across Japan.I really thought it would go more in depth on the various epxeriences and offer some more proposals about how and where to do/experience said stuff.
