Cold Steel Rondel Dagger

It's a Medieval Rondel by Cold Steel - love it.

This rondel dagger is a handsome (if not a little evil looking) piece. It is a spike designed to deal with someone in plate armor by aiming it at the vulnerable joints (or eye slits).The fit and finish is good and the scabbard snug.There is a slight sharpness to the three edges, but they are there pretty obviously to add to the penetrating power of the point.There were likely many types of rondel daggers and this one has only a single purpose, to stab.A quality piece and well worth the price.

This is excellent except for one small thing. The grip has some sort of sooty black finish that comes off on my hands. I tried washing it, alcohol, oil, and its "mostly" stopped.

They have the incorrect picture in the listing, this is indeed the cold steel Rondel with a rosewood handle and brass studs in the handle.This is purely a stabbing weapon with a lot of heft behind it, if you want a medieval shank from hell this is the gold standard! A great off-hand choice for any ren-faire.

I had one of these and I placed it on display in my office. I was in the unfortunate position of being the person who conducts investigations on employees when they have complaints against them. I have it as a display item only and had it prior to being voluntold to be in this position. I like knives and started bladesmithing. This has been well made by Cold Steel. I had two employees that worked for me promoted and I bought them each one of these. I had them laser engraved with our organization's name and their new rank. They love them. These things are built strong.

Excellent and well balanced! The blade is well designed with a heavy tip and good penetrating power. The handle looks great and is comfortable to grip.

The dagger is great it came early and pre oiled and it’s sharp my only complaint is the bottom of the sheath rattles, but at the top it holds snug so the dagger won’t fall out

The dagger looks like something straight out of a medieval castle. The coating very slick, not quite black and with a sinister shine to it. Make no mistake about it, if you get pierced with this dagger you're in serious trouble.The blade itself is also quite thick and a professional could probably use it for joint locks.The trouble comes from the three DULL edges. Seriously, there is dull, and then there is this dagger where every edge is just horribly incapable of cutting even a tissue, must less piece of paper or flesh.Maybe this was intentional on the part of cold steel? Being that the dagger is illegal to carry in many states, and likely to be a showpiece or souvenir for renfairs?The leather cording that came with the dagger was also so dry it literally fell apart on handling.So while I absolutely love the way this dagger looks, I can't help but to dislike how poorly functional it is. For most blades the dull edges wouldn't be an issue, but for this one, I definitely don't want to mar the coating while sharpening it.Final verdict, buy it, but only being aware that it's purely a showpiece, and needs serious work to be a real weapon.
