Best speakers under $300.
Best speakers (I got the 7" pair) for FLAC music playback you can possibly get for under $300 (for 2 pair) imo. I prefer them over the Yamaha and JBL active speakers of the same price as my friends have both. Crystal clear, no humming or hissing or any of that while music is on or off. Can't really go wrong here. XLR inputs are great too cause the speakers are 20 feet away from me so no losing any audio quality through RCA cables. I don't produce music, just listen to it. Using a raspberry pi volumio setup coax plugged into a Topping Dx7 pro DAC/headphone amp/pre-amp to run these speakers. The Dx7 pro has XLR output so I use that. Buy these but make sure you're not plugging them into old crappy power strips or they will hiss. Just use a decent modern power strip plugged directly into the wall and you'll have no hiss. I suggest speaker stands over setting on foam, even if they're $40 stands like I got.. work great. If too much just grab a thing of acoustic foam to put under these. This review based on 46 year old ears fyi.

Value is unparralled, range isn't.
Dont get me wrong, I'm by no means experienced in the world of studio monitors, but I hope this review acts as the "laymans take" on these monitors. Coming from a 5" set of very flat and honest Event Tr5's, these are noticably lacking mid and high end presence. However, the difference is marginal and could be completely disregarded depending on how you like to mix your music. Furthermore, the sound that these speakers deliver is awesome. They get very loud, almost too loud for a small room, but not at the cost of any distortion. I'd say the most promenant feature is the bass, or "low frequency range" according to the nerds. Its punchy, humongous, clear, and exciting. These speakers have a noticably bass-heavy sound to them. The combonation of KRKs front-ported design and the larger woofer makes for a clean and smooth low-end that punches and rattles through the listeners chest (and desk!) If you are an audiophile, these may not be your favorite monitors. If you are a producer of hip hop, trap, dnb, etc. these may be your favorite monitors. The KRK classic 7s are the budget hero of the studio monitor world.

Awesome speakers
Awesome speakers well worth the money.

I've used KRK's for many years and am still amazed by their neutral sound quality.
I've used KRK's in movie production while also employing various more expensive monitors. Don't let the actually 'cheap' price tag fool you. These Monitors perform at a level far above. They are neutral and detailed. To cover the full sound spectrum add a KRK Sub 10, which provides a perfectly matched - high-quality - audio monitoring system for NLE and/or Audio Mastering on a budget. Can't recommend KRK's enough. Whichever model you choose, you're hard-pressed to find anything better at that price.

Great for home studio.
Just what I was looking for -- great value for the money. I am a guitarist and use it through a small mixer for vocals and the drum machine. Sounds great. Probably could also double as a small PA system for a backyard party, although I haven't done that yet.

These are really great studio monitors for the money. Accurate. pretty flat.
Good enough power without a sub, but I still run them with a sub cause, why not..

Good performance
I use these speakers with my stage digital piano at home. The performance is very satisfiying, sound is clear and reproduce nicely range but specially mid and high frequencies.

There's a reason this is the standard
The quality of these speakers is insane. My really old computer speakers died and I decided to splurge and get the speakers my colleagues had. I'm still getting used to them because they sound so clear, sometimes it sounds like what I'm watching is happening in the room I'm in.They can get really loud, like VERY loud, too. I do wish the knobs were more accessible for tuning. I have them wall mounted and that makes the knobs difficult to get to. But that and they're quite pricey are really my only complaints.
