That depends on the generator some don't allow charging through.

Are you sure your charger is provided for 24V? Or 12V only? The only way to contact Seller is to buy and return another item. After more than 30 days- any contact options were not availablle for me.

Q: Does the car need to be on when charging?

No, while you can charge charge a battery while installed, the motor should not be running. I would disconnect at least the negative (earth) terminal while any charger is connected to avoid damage to the vehicle circuits should a fault develop. Ideally the battery should be removed and charged in a well ventilated area, the gasses given of during charging could be explosive.

As soon as the battery is fully charged it switches off for me on charging a healthy battery If you have it on repair mode which I’m guessing may trickle charge a battery for many hours?
