Breaks very easy

I needed wood for 1:12 dollhouse walls. This wood is a bit thinner than what came in the house and work fine . Very pleased with purchase and would buy again.

I tried to use this for a home DIY project for Christmas. When I got the item, the top one was a little warped. didnt stick to the cricket mat. It may have been a little too thick for my project/machine to cut. I tried to cutout the bottom of the design after with a cricut knife, but the wood broke across the internal vein.. In the end, It didn't work for what I needed, but its good material overall..

Material is brittle. When making smaller cuts, it’ll break and I’ll need to glue it back together, which means you can’t sell these pieces. It’s not plywood, so it’s not sturdy and will break apart at the wood grain and especially where two pieces of wood are glued together, see photo with arrows. It’s extremely lightweight for sure. The only thing this would be good for is testing designs, but even then, you won’t know what it really looks like or feels like till you use basswood plywood. The texture is a slightly rough compared to other basswood I’ve used and if you engrave it, it ends up looking like the bottom side of a mushroom, see photo. Its a waste of money unless you want to just use them as a template.. but even then, they will probably not last long since it will fall apart.

These are great for small arts projects. I got these to use with my laser engraver, and they worked great! Spot on measurements and each piece is very similar without too much variation.

The listing is very confusing, some places calling this basswood, while other places say balsa. Based on the weight and feel, it probably is balsa. It definitely isn’t the same product that I got the last time I ordered from this company. The previous product was very smooth with a very consistent color. This time, the surface isn’t exactly rough, but it has a more open-grained feel and strong grain patterns. I wouldn’t recommend these if you’re planning to do any engraving, especially not anything that has fine details. If you’re just looking for something that can be cut and painted or left plain (no engraving), these would be ok.

I bought this and another brand to compare quality. Even after taking out of the wrap it remained flat. It's solid wood compared to the layered wood of other brands. This will be my go-to for future model making materials.

Reasonably priced, arrived in excellent condition and boards were flat. Great for practicing your laser cutting/etching with your new 3D laser printer or attachment. Just remember to set your correct focal length on your laser.
