Simple but very good
The idea and skills introduced are simple to understand. I find myself on track to recovery after using some skills. We are different. Choose what skills most suitable for you. I recommend this book.

It Works If You Work it
This workbook was equally as helpful to me as the Self-Esteem book was. It was my experience that although one could work this book alone quite easily, more can be gained by doing them at the same time. Having both texts assists with definitions, assessments, and ways of looking at things. The Self-Esteem Checkup immediately revealed to me I was doing the right book. I also got a lot out of the Physical Preparation section, which gave me a boost of confidence knowing that I already take care of my body in terms of diet and exercise. I painted my opinion of myself as the book suggested, using oils as my medium. I created a very revealing artwork, which details four different faces of me.I used to be big on Self-Defeating thoughts, but by working in this book I am quicker to recognize them and replace them with more positive and self-loving thoughts. I copied many of the Daily Thought Records and worked hard in this section.I did the Eyes of Love Meditation and read it to myself for months afterwards, along with the Even-Though, Never-the-Less activity. I also made many copies of the Skill Building Worksheet and realized how my negative self-talk eats away at my self-esteem. Through this work I learned more positive self-talk, which improved my self-esteem. Doing this work took time and effort, but it is time well spent. It helped me to feel better about myself. I am learning to love myself the way I am. [...]

Insightful
I highly recommend this. I am someone who knew I needed a little help with my self-confidence/esteem, but it wasn't something that was debilitating. I just knew I wasn't reaching my potential, and it was because I seemed to be sabotaging myself and holding myself back. I can't afford therapy, so I thought I would get a book to work through and see if that helped. All people considering buying this book should use the "look inside" feature to see if it clicks with them. It clicked instantly with me.The section on Automatic Thoughts (ATs) that starts on page 40 is more than worth its weight in gold. Reading that, I couldn't help but be struck by how silly such thoughts are, yet how pervasive. I have used the activities in the beginning section of the book for the past 10 months at pretty irregular intervals, but even so, it is amazing how different my outlook is already. I had scribbled a bunch of notes in the book back when I first read it, and looking at at those now is like night and day.I am usually skeptical of people who make such bold claims (diets that promise to lose 10 pounds a week, get rich quick schemes, etc). But using this workbook a little per week, or irregularly as I did, and paying conscious attention to thought patterns and recognizing where they stray into the unhealthy, has made a difference. Thanks!

Good content. Not fond of the chapter order.
As a psychotherapist, I can understand the order of his topics. However, I won’t present them to my clients in his order. Tossing how to take care of your body as a first topic is challenging to show immediately. I leave it to the middle. The rest of this book is wonderful. I do okay with the order of topics depending on the client. Everyone is a little different in their needs.

Great Book On This Topic
You can work on it at your own pace. Take it to counseling/therapy, and it's very encouraging.

Life changing.
My therapist recommended this workbook to me. I have childhood trauma and apparently lacked self-worth, and didn't realize it because I don't lack confidence, etc. Within a couple of chapters of this workbook, I was already having epiphanies about my struggles to receive compliments, and feel like I am doing enough. I can't recommend it enough, and now make my friends buy it, too! I'm so glad my therapist recommended this. Mental health is so important, invest in it with this workbook!

SO aggravating
The text from this workbook is 35 years old and it's garbage. There are good things to glean but editing really wasn't done for content even though it came out HOW many years ago? This could be so much better.
