Poor performance totally not as described
PROS:- small and lightCONS:- this is unfortunately not a model with the 2 large nice speakers in the back (one of the base one for trebles) with a round opening for each, but the standard ones hidden inside the metal case (see photo). So the sound is not as good as it could be.- The touch screen is not precise, and requires many pushes before it finally registers (using fingers or dedicated touchscreen pen)- While the knobs are turning the right way (turn right increase, turn left decrease) they take a random amount of "clicks" before they register the change. So sometimes it will take 5 clicks to move one step, sometimes 3 clicks, sometimes 2, etc.- Sometimes you won't be able to set a certain frequency with the knob (as it keeps skipping it). For example it will go from 7.100 to 7.300 going up, and back to 7.100 going down, but not 7.200 so you'll need to do a touchscreen input which comes with its own set of challenges described above.- The antenna provided is useless, you'll need to buy a decent one if you want to be able to hear signals properly.- The CW decode function doesn't work correctly and displays just random letters at random times- The battery only last 1h or less depending on volume.VALUE:This is a knockoff from the original Malahit developed in Russia, which is sold for cheaper than this device, so the only way this purchase makes sense is if the performance is better, not worse.

Can not recommend
I’ve had this Malahit-DSP receiver for three months. It is the first of several DSP-based radios I’ve bought. After careful consideration, I can’t recommend this product. The Malahit-DSP is one of several products that have repurposed the si4732 digital TV converter chip into a working general-purpose radio. Just add an antenna, an ARM SOC, an audio amp and a few other parts. The devil is in the details with respect to product design, and this Malahit-DSP implementation leaves a lot of details wanting. The user interface is barely usable due to a seconds-long delay to rewrite the parameter memory any time any control changes. (Look on the screen next to the headphone icon; you’ll see a red dot appear, turn green and go away any time you change a setting. When the dot is present, user actions are ignored.) Then there’s the sheer number of settings, many of which are superfluous. (The designers have chosen to expose many unnecessary details.)The SMA-F antenna connector is soldered to one side of the main circuit board. A nut and lock washer on the outside of the case pull on the board via the connector. There should be a washer on the inside of the case to relieve the stress on the board, and the jack should be soldered to the board on both sides. I had to repair this after a month of use.The circuit board does not have a shield over the RF section, despite having been designed for one; this probably accounts for a lot of the spurious signals seen by the receiver. The time-of-day clock is difficult to set and keeps poor time. Mine has gained a half-hour in three months. The biggest problem is the poor audio quality. There’s no nice way to put this: this radio is unlistenable. I’m saying that w.r.t. headphone use; the audio crackles and distorts.

Not what I expected.....
The radio functions half the time. The 2 controls are about useless. You keep turning, but nothing happens. Of course, the instructions tell you very little. You don't have a clue on some of the functions. Even YouTube is no help and that's something! The touch screen is useless too. Sending it back. Two hundred dollars for something that doesn't work on most functions.

You charge too much!
I bought mine from Ebay for well under $200. American seller. It's not a bad little radio but it's not the best at even the price I bought it at! No one sells an sdr radio on Amazon that's current or even fairly priced!I like the Fire Brothers 2 speaker double antenna action for about $180. No offense Amazon and the sellers on here but you're outta date and too high priced! Figure it out!
