I’ve had good experience with Castle Arts in the past, and this is a good mid range paint. not too expensive or cheap. Colors are nice and vibrant, and layer well

First, Castle products are high quality and never disappoint for me. I bought a set of acrylics on a whim and loved them. One cool feature of this brand is they have a universal color shade library that is applied to all of their media. The shades are the same and have the same name regardless of which media you choose. These go on smoothly, and create beautiful vibrant images.

This Castle Arts gouache is just okay. It's great for beginners and pretty cheap at $1.00 per tube. It is pretty streaky though. Some of the colors are indeed opaque or semi opaque. Basically, you get what you pay for at this price point. If you're looking to learn and get a lot of tubes at once to play with, this might be the set for you. I would personally pay $5 more and get the Himi 24 set, as that set is awesome and WAY better than this paint - less streaky, more opaque. Or get the M. GRAHAM primary mixing set which is very pigmented or the Talens 8 Mixing set which is a step down from the M. Grahams. These paints from Castle Arts are definitely not Holbeins or Winsor & Newtons, but for a sketchbook and to learn basic color theory, they are good enough.

Just what I needed

Me gusta la pintura, la consistencia del gouache y la amplia selección de colores que tiene. Sin embargo, los tubos son de mala calidad. Algunas tapas estaban mal guillotinadas, lo que provoca fugas y dificulta su uso. Además, el gouache blanco se partió justo en medio del tubo y tuve que ponerle pegamento. La pintura es buena, pero la calidad del resto de los materiales es mala.--I like the paint, the consistency of the gouache, and the wide selection of colors. However, the tubes are of poor quality. Some caps were improperly cut, causing leaks and making them hard to use. Also, the white gouache split in the middle of the tube, and I had to put glue on it. The paint is good, but the quality of the rest of the materials is poor.
