Nostalgic with great QOL updates!
As an important note, this device has the roster for the DMX2 XD (the purple+silver Japanese version)!Having it for over a month and it's still very fun and enjoyable. The freeze function is great as you can put your Digimon away and not worry about care mistakes or having it die from neglect! You can also back up 2 Digimon, allowing you to raise 3 at a time (one active, two backups). The Digimon itself isn't very needy once it hits stage 4, and can be left unattended for a couple hours with no problems. You'll get random encounters in the morning after it wakes up, but not too many and it quiets down for the rest of the day. Quite handy for someone wanting to raise a Digimon in real time, but not feel pressured to continuously check on it.The quest mode is very enjoyable and progression unlocks more possible Digimon to obtain, while the final few are from a special encounter or pairing up with its sibling device (the XC). This makes the available roster change up as you progress, which is very fun! Even without a pair, you still have plenty of enjoyment! There is a save feature, so you don't lose progress while changing the battery. It happens automatically, so there is no need to worry. As such, it is easy to take apart to customize. The background is just a little piece placed in it, so you can change that out to something more fun (like glow in the dark tape). The shell of the device out of the box seems a little bland, so painting it for that added touch may also be appealing.I recommend reading the Humulos user manual if you want to master it right away, and avoid the evolution guides if you want to be surprised!

Just like the ones I grew up with but BETTER!
I was so happy when my 7 year old son showed interest in wanting a Digimon. Being in my 30’s and growing up with these little monsters, I was excited at the thought of now giving this experience to my boy! It’s just how they used to be but there is an added feature with the Digimon X (it needs to say X for this feature to be there btw). The X version allows you to freeze your digi pet when you’re not using it. I wish they would have thought of that when I was playing with them as a kid. The level of anxiety these things brought to my life knowing I couldn’t look after it while at school or while eating at the dinner table with my family was crazy lol. I know I can’t be alone here. This is the only version I’d ever buy for any child! So worth it.

Really fun
Brings back a lot of childhood memories! Lots of nostalgia. Though it will feel outdated with how technology is these days, it’s still a fun device. Great for kids when away from smart phones/tablets.

Pocket Digimon = Awesome
Great product with cool features. It can be difficult to keep your Digimon alive but it is to be expected. Cool 2 player battle feature!

digimon is REAL
Bought one as a longtime Digimon fan - it’s so cute!! All the sprites are well-done and recognizable for being so small, and the close-up sprites for when a Digimon uses their special attack are awesome. It even makes it worth not skipping battle animations. The battle system uses a nice mix of luck and skill, with the XAI dice roll system determining how fast the target bar moves while you focus on trying to time it to get the most damage. And being able to win rewards from different Area Bosses that give you temporary attack/HP/EXP bonuses for your next Area challenge makes raising up Digimon more convenient.Speaking of convenience, unlike other older Digimon v-pets, this series allows you to put your Digimon in stasis for as long as you need to not worry about feeding it, cleaning up after it, or putting it to sleep at the right time. You can engage with your Digimon whenever it works for you, so it’s very stress-free.Also, being able to raise 3 different Digimon (one at a time, not all at once; you select between your three Digimon for whichever one you want to raise at the moment) gives you variability in what you want to do at a time. Have a high-level Digimon that doesn’t need you to do much anymore, thus being boring? Start again without losing your old Digimon, raising up a new baby! Get tired of having to do so much, or want to take on high-level battles? Swap back to your high-level Digimon. If you’re looking for a cute little digital creature to tote around wherever you like and play with on your own terms, I’d recommend this. Though I will also recommend, if you get confused with Digivolutions or what to do to get something new, after your first Digimon (going in blind gives you the most out of your first mon) look up an online guide ^^

Neato
Decently large roster.Downside is it's "demon" themed, so all of the Digimon are basically uncool but you can cope with that, they're supposed to be monsters anyway.Nice color, easy to play and understand .. quality lol
