I love these pencils. They help me to practice my values, Hughes shades, contrast, and color study as I use them in coloring books mostly, I have not stepped out of the coloring book real to start actually doing my own custom painting with them I’ve tried using alcohol to help smooth out And blend some of the colors. but they do work well with orderless mineral spirits. They are vibrant creamy, smooth, texture satisfying to work with and if you look at the photos, I’m sharing. I think you’ll agree. they do complete a beautiful rendering in a coloring book on cheap paper. I haven’t dared to try them on artist grade paper yes but I’m planning to in the future.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I received these pencils last week. The first time I used them they were kind of scratchy. I contacted castle art and told them my problem and explained I didn't want to return them, do they have any suggestions. They emailed me a few suggestions and I did them and now they are as smooth as butter. Love them

Amazing pencils that blend and create beautiful art. I can't draw so I love using these in coloring books. They get a bit more soft than I like when it gets warm outside, but if I put these in the fridge for a bit they firm up just fine 🙂 100% worth the extra money I paid for these.

Ok, so my heading doesn't say much about the entire package.. but I've only used the white pencil on a bridal dress design. So it goes on smoothly and feels smooth while using. Nice. The thing is, you don't really notice the white pencil on white paper while you are actually using it..., BUT, hours later, I guess after it has "dried" or "reacted with the air," the white is WHITE. It is literally pure white and extremely noticeable.I LOVE the white pencil! and because of this, I'm rating the ENTIRE package 100.I'm definitely going to use the white one completely first, so I hope they have packs of White Oil Base Pencil sets.

Beautiful set of watercolor pencils. Well thought out colors, great tin to store and protect them. Lovely depth of color. Strong not easily broken lead - save the Prussian blue. For some reason, in each set, Prussian blue breaks most easily. But I don’t use it all that often, so I don’t worry!

I wanted to try oil based colored pencils and I like Castle Arts other pencils. I absolutely love these. They are creamy and lay down like butter. I’m very happy with my purchase.
