Has anyone had the same problem I have had with this brand of curling irons? After only a month or so of using, the barrel "rolls" and the grip loosens

I have had the same problem after a month. I also noticed the bristles fall off after a few months but its the only brand of curling iron that makes a small barrel.

can it be used on dry hair

It MUST be used on dry hair. It is a curling iron with brush bristles and is only meant to CURL hair; not to dry wet hair!!

Does this have auto shutoff?

Not it does not have auto shut off. I put mine away in a drawer after each use so it isn't a problem for me.

I guess since it isn't flammable.
