I hate rolling up hoses and reel carts always leak or are unwieldy. The Gardena system is pricey, but I think it will last a long time.We had to make a "pilot " hole in our hard ground and add water to get the spike twisted in. The spike allows the reel to swivel which makes pulling hose easier. The retraction system is a breeze. The quick connects work with our existing brass quick connects. We will easily be able to store the reel for the winter and it has a cap to cover the ground sleeve. They have thought of everything although I will miss the storage compartment on our cheap old plastic reel.We have not had a pressure issue with the smaller diameter hose, but our water pressure isn't the greatest to begin with. I suppose it would be nice to have a 5/8" hose or be able to wind on your own, but have no complaints.Our foster dog zeroed in on any hose lying on the ground within seconds and had destroyed 2 hoses within days, but strangely enough does not recognize this system as a hose or even as something to chew on! And, with the retractable hose I am no longer having to completely roll up plain old hose to avoid her hose Spidey senses. Lucky us.Overall, I would buy again.

High quality product. I had a retractable hose unit in the past that was junk (Not from this manufacturer. It was a different brand.)This unit mounts into the ground so it stays put. My old one rolled on wheels so it would move when trying to retract. This reels up the hose perfectly every time. The mechanism in the old unit would not move side to side smoothly when rewinding. This is made of high quality materials that is sturdy. The other unit was made of cheap flimsy plastic. I used teflon tape when attaching my hose to the quick disconnect to make sure the threads or gasket on my hose would not leak. If I did not, this could be an easy way to blame the disconnects for leaking when it would be the fault of the hose that I used to connect to the unit. (I installed the unit about ten feet away from the hose shut off.). Everything worked perfectly. Not a single leak. The thick solid steel pipe included to twist the unit to drive the stake into the ground worked perfectly and was necessary. The stake that twists into the ground is very large to make sure the unit is secure. It would have been impossible to twist in the stake all the way without it. Ones screwed into the ground it is extremely secure so it does not move when pulling out the house or retracting the hose.

These hose reels have been the best so far. Easy to setup and even easier to use.

This comes in handy for watering potted plants on the porch or deck and plants in garden beds. It looks nice and retracts easy. I also like that it does not need to be fastened to the house. It comes with a large auger to screw it into the ground. It's also easy to remove in the fall if you want to bring it inside for the winter. The hose is smaller diameter than a typical garden hose, but it does provide a nice flow of water. My only complaints are that I wish the hose was up to 100 feet instead of 66 feet and the fitting on the hose ends can easily come off if you pull on them and they are also plastic. I'd like to see brass fittings that are securely connected.

This hose is fabulous. It took me about 20 minutes to set up. It swivels, has great water pressure, and retracts quickly like the old-style vacuum cleaner cords. It does not tangle inside. Well constructed. Brilliant design. I love it so much that I ordered and just received a second one for the front yard. This time, it took about 10 minutes to set up.

Overall was simple to install, works great, nice and solid, great quality, very handy. The hose diameter is a little smaller than your typical hose but not a surprise just something to know. The hose retracts well, would consider another one of these if needed.

I like the idea of the Quick Connect system to easily pop accessories on and off, but unfortunately the adapter made of cheap plastic and leaks everywhere. After initially hand-tightening, I tried to eliminate the leak by using a vice grip to tighten the adapter more and more onto the spigot. No matter how much I tighten it, water still sprays out from between the spigot and adapter, rendering the hose useless.I wanted to love this product, but unless they make a metal version of the fitting, it's unusable.
