Before I bought this basket, I had the same one with the exact same "Made in U.S.A." font molded into the basket rim and handle for 6 1/2 to 7 years (no joke) before the handle got brittle and broke off, which is partly my fault because the basket was crammed full of debris from one night of a recent AZ Monsoon. It's a flexible nylon plastic so it won't crack and break apart as easily as the harder non flexible plastics. Definitely will get your money's worth!

I didn't realize that the plastic thing attached to the inside bottom of the basket was a weight. I cut it away, and then understood my error. The basket may float when installed in the skimmer, if the pump is not on. After reattaching the weight, the basket gently sinks to the bottom of the skimmer. So far the basket seems pretty sturdy, but these baskets get attacked by the chlorine and usually become brittle and fail after a few years.

The baskets are a good replacement skimmer basket. They fit well and look good. The only problem I have is that the plastic tab that holds the weight onto the bottom of the basket is misshapen on the one basket (I bought 2) and the weight falls off when I empty the leaves and trash from the basket which is daily.
