Q: Does anyone know if a 3” pillar candle will fit?

I returned these because the little door is too small for an led candle to go through. So it's the width of the candle that might not go in. I ended up getting another lantern that opens two of its sides allowing me to put really big candles.

Q: Can the chain be adjusted so it’s longer?

No. You could easily add length with wire or fixing a chain length to it — but lengthen beyond the given 12 - 14 inches, no.
