The Real Deal
The Real Deal. This is what we used in the infantry in the 82nd Airborne division. Not everybody but half or more of everyone wore these. I purchased a pair when I got put of the army as work boots and they've lasted me 2 years of constant abuse. This is my 3rd pair the other ones were retired before failing they just got too stinky and lost most of their traction from marching in the army. This i she first pair to "fail" on me. Theyre still "useable" but its time for a new pair.

Garmont Boots Rock!
Garmont Boots Rock! I use both the T8 NFS 670 (this item) and the Bifida Boots. They are made very well, and the leather and synthetic materials form a very nice product. Both boots are different animals and do require break in. Once they have more or less adapted to your feet, they are very comfortable. In fact, I’d say they are the best ones out there. A certain style of sock will need to match your boot and foot and it may need to be thicker or thinner depending on how things feel. You will need to figure all that out. I wear a size 11 boot. The T8 (Sized 11) came in almost a little on the tighter side, but after breaking in they fit very well, like an extension of your foot, and that's what you need. No slipping, no sliding etc. The Bifida on the other hand fit a 1/2 size larger for me, so had to return and now have a 10-1/2. It has a slightly different feel than the T8s. You will definitely notice the thicker tread which is great for rocky trail / road areas, and the rear part of the heel is slightly higher than the rest of the boot. At first with the Bifidas, there was this issue with a strange feel towards the back of the insole. It was like my heel was being placed on the back top edge of the insert. It dug into my heel for a little bit, and it felt weird. I pulled the insole out and wore the boot and that showed me that the boot was the right size. I put the insoles back in and just grunted through it all. After hiking and fast walking about 20 miles altogether on varied terrain, they now fit as good as the T8s, in fact, maybe a little better. The T8s did not have any issue with the insoles, and are more like a very nice leather high top that you could run in and not get shin splints or blisters (if they are fitting properly). The Bifidas have a thicker bitchin’ Vibram tread to the bottom and handle rocky trails and muddy areas just fine. But that said, be aware that both aren't in the same class as hiking boots. For cases where you are out in the middle of nowhere near medium to larger sized rocks that can cause your ankle to roll, wear hiking boots instead, where your ankle will be completely immobilized (or close to that). I wish Garmont made a hiking boot that was made of the same type of materials. I’d choose that over the other commercial offerings.

Great boots!
I could not find a good lace-up work boot in the traditional western wear lines, so I thought I would try a military style boot. I had a pair that worked well but had deep treads that accumulated mud. The Garmont boots were great! They were very comfortable and the soles gripped well but did not accumulate too much mud. I was initially disappointed to find the canvas material in the back of the heel (8" tops) begin to tear after a couple of months. There was a one year warranty, so I contacted the company and they immediately sent me replacement boots. It made me question their quality, but my son is in the Texas Guard and wears Garmonts a lot and he has not had quality problems. This seemed to be an isolated instance, which I understand. I am definitely a Garmont fan!

Perfect for everyday military wear
Bought them for my son. They lasted him through basic and AIT. They are still going strong just very dirty. He usually wears a 10 or 10.5. I bought him a 9.5 wide and they fit perfectly. Much better than the Army issued boots for your soldier.

Nearly Perfect.
I went the first 12 years of my Army career wearing only Danner and Nike boots. I finally decided to listen to others. These boots have the most comfortable sole out the box I’ve ever worn.

Army issue alternative
After just a few weeks, my son's Army issued boots were killing his feet. I ordered these and his said they are comfortable and do not cause blisters.

Easily the most comfortable boots I’ve owned
The only thing I hate about these boots is that I didn’t try them sooner.I’ve spent 15 years bouncing between Belleville, Bates, Nike, Rocky, Danner, etc. and found some decent boots along the way but none of them were “the ones”.Enter the Garmonts. These are hands down the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned and are holding up great to harsh rocky and desert terrains. They just feel like a natural part of me when I put them on.There’s no doubt in my mind I will be replacing these with the same exact boot when the time comes.
