Upgrade after 20 plus years
My original Broil King portable finally retired after 20-plus years of wonderful service! I decided it was time to upgrade and I am very glad I did! They have made many subtle improvements and the quality is an excellent and beautifully crafted and improved portable grill. The Porta-Chef 120 has sturdier legs, heavier grills, and a sleek modern, and attractive design. I love outdoor cooking and Broil King has been there for me for decades. I have made everything on these grills from chocolate cake to lobster tails and baked potatoes, cooked soups and fried taters and tortillas. You name it and I can make it on a Broil King and they always turn out fantastic. Broil King has a customer for life with me. The Porta-Cef 120 sets up quickly and easily, and storage is just as simple. Their designers have done an excellent job crafting a fine outdoor cooking solution. Here is to another 20-plus years with a new old friend!

Great Grill - Easily Converted for RV Quick Connect
This is a great little grill. I bought this to replace the grill that came with my RV. It took almost three months to receive the grill from Amazon as it was back ordered; not the grill's fault. The grill came well packaged, but upon inspection I noticed an extra piece on the bottom of the box. This extra piece turned out to be the thermostat that connects to the face plate on the front of the lid. A quick call to the manufacturer resolved this as they promptly registered my grill, sent out the new parts via FedEx and provided me with an order number for reference. The instructions were pictures for the most part and were easy enough to follow. The grill assembled in about 20 minutes. I connected it to a standard 20lb LP tank and fired it up on high with the lid closed to burn off the oil and let it cool down. I did this a second time for good measure. The parts are all high quality and solid. The cast iron grate looked to be seasoned well, but as with all cast iron it's important to continue to maintain it and I will. The legs and sides are also quickly removable and store underneath the grill in predesignated spots. This is perfect for folding everything up to put back in the storage compartment of my RV. However, there's no way to secure the lid and any stock pictures you see of someone carrying this thing by the handle isn't very practical. I use a bungi cord to keep the lid closed during transport and this seems fine to me, but is a design flaw.As I said, I bought this to replace my terrible RV grill, so it needed to be converted for use with my RV's LP Gas quick connect system. The LP regulator for this grill is built into the hose near the propane tank connection, which makes this conversion very easy. Simply removing this hose from the gas control on the grill and replacing it with a low pressure RV LP gas quick connect hose is all you need. I used the following parts to complete this:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IZCNN72http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MYFPAK

Good size and heats well
This is large for a portable grill, has plenty of grill space for meat for about 6 people. It's portable, but is probably not as easily moved as other portable grills because of its size and weight. It seems well made, sturdy, good quality. It heats evenly, and I was surprised how quickly it gets to 600 degrees. I'm not very mechanically-inclined, but it took me less than an hour to put it together with the illustration-only instructions (I would have liked words too).

After undercooked fish, chicken and burgers, replacing with a Weber
Arrived with crack in lid, missing 2 screws, 2 screws wrong size (and 2 more screws the wrong size) and a broken name plate. The legs are not a tight fit/wiggle and the grate not secure, just its weight to hold it in place. I am hoping the manufacturer will replace the parts in question and I will find way to secure the legs. Hoping this thing can still work out but first impressions are not off to a good start as far as the quality of a Broil King product. Lastly, what is the purpose of the small box shaped attachment on the left - no shelf included and on the Broil King website, I do not see option to buy a shelf. One more thing - Owners Manual refers to a battery for the ignition, but no battery mentioned in the assembly instructions6/19/2017 update: per manufacturer, control box on left just to secure bracket for storing legs; owners manual for more than one model (would be helpful if variations identified by model # as is common with other product's owners manual). Customer service will send out new lid, name plate and missing screws, but I need to drill out hole in control boxes to accommodate wrong size screws (seems like either design or manufacturing flaw).7/8/2017 Update: Manufacturer sent new lid, new new plate and missing screws for pins to secure lid for transport (and free grill tool set). I purchased #6 x 1/2 inch metal screws for design flaw issue. Fired up for first time on 7/9/2017 in Denver, CO, data on heat (see pics) 1) 78 degree and no wind outside, 15 min at medium produced 450 degrees, 2) same weather, increased to high, after 15 more min, produced about 570 degrees and after 10 more min (total of 25 min on high) held at 570 degrees. After a few uses: get and adapter hose and use large tank - otherwise you will be burning through lots of small tanks. With opening to flip, on high holding at about 400-450 (about 70 degree temp outside).8/3/2017 - time to invest in a Weber: this thing just does not maintain enough heat to get recommended internal temperatures of meat. While it starts out at 550, the temp plummets when the lid is opened to check food and struggles to maintain 400 degrees.

Great Fathers Day gift!!
All in all worked great!!! A little on the heavy side. Hard to find portable grill with warming rack like this! It's like a normal sized BBQ so it worked great. Cooked 2 tri tips on top and a bunch of chicken on the bottom! Hubby was happy!

Great BBQ
Easy to assemble. The only thing I have an issue with is the removable legs don't really stay in the storage area. One of the clips was broken when I got it. It really does not matter to me since I will leave this on my balcony.
