Works for Sony A6000, battery goes in "upside down"
IDK what a few of the negative reviews are about. It works fine, only "issue" is the battery (CR2025, included) goes in "upside down" and there are no +/- marks to indicate direction. When installed correctly, the (-) faces up to the control side.

Works!
I bought this to work with my Sony A7RV camera but it does not work with this model, no IR remote option on this camera. I’m keeping it because it works fine with my FX3.

Perfect for Sony A6000
Works perfect with Sony A6000. Ease to use from the box works perfect and the buttons works as intended. This was the cheapest and its perfect for the money.

Easy to use, perfect for my needs
I use it on a a Sony A7Sii that is mounted on a jib about 10’ up. The camera is facing straight down and I can trigger it easily from below. I was worried that the camera would not signal me when it started recording but there’s a light on the camera that blinks once when recording starts and twice when it stops.

Total junk, weak and completely died quickly
The remote worked well enough at first, though range was limited. I got the sense that the IR was not very strong, even with several different brand new batteries from different manufacturers. Now, the remote is totally dead--swapping batteries, doing a dance, nothing works, even when held right up to the IR sensor. Yes, I've checked my camera settings.Junk, do not buy.

So far so good!
I've only used this twice but so far it meets all of my expectations. Sure, there are only 3 controls which is far less than the Sony Play Memories app but the smaller, less cumbersome size and shape more than makes up for it. The material on top does feel like it might be a little thin but does that really matter? I could see it surviving a sizable drop. This remote is so small, thin, and light that you'd have to actively try to break it. Then, even if you do manage to break it, it was only $8 so it's hardly like your cellphone getting broken while trying to remotely activate your camera from an awkward position. The trade off is that you can't preview your pictures. Make up for that buy taking extras. Range, I'm not entirely sure as to the limits but I used it from 15-20 feet with is on par with my phone. If you can get further, even better.

Was nice while it lasted.
I purchased this product on February 7th, 2021.Initially, it worked fine and I was able to take snap shots of my self using the remote with my Sony Alpha 6300.I would sometimes have issues getting the remote to actually snap photos with my camera, often having to press the button or re-position the remote multiple times to get the camera to snap a photo.Even though that was frustrating, what am I most upset about is recently the remote won't snap photos with my camera at all-but the video record function on the remote still works.I am disappointed as initially this remote did exactly what I needed it to do.My search continues, I do not recommend this product.
