Dollar for Dollar, It's a Good Buy
Five stars from me for quality, practicality, spaciousness, comfort, and appearance. My review is based on product vs. price and what the product actually is, not what I wish it were. This attractive case has plenty of room for your 17" laptop along with its power cord and mouse. Its padded outside zippered pocket will comfortably hold portable hard drives, cell phones, and other small items while keeping them safe from knocks and bangs.Ample inside cushioning affords worry-free transporting of your laptop, but I wouldn't suggest pitching the case into the trunk of your car. Other than that, your laptop will easily survive the usual unexpected hits and bumps. The case has a very comfortable padded handle and an adjustable shoulder strap, which is comfortable enough in that it cannot dig into your shoulder, and the easy-pull zippers function quite smoothly. This bag is obviously not a top-of-the-line case, but dollar for dollar it's a very good buy.BOTTOM LINE: Buy it.

Just what I was looking for
It is durable, but lightweight. I liked it so much a bought another one for our other laptop.Space:Have 17.3 in laptop. It fit with room to spare. I could fit the power adapter, usb keyboard (I hate laptop keypads), and usb mouse with room to spare for a folder of notes, a book, and my tablet. (Still had room to spare after that).Pockets:The outside zippered pocket has 3 mini-pockets (open-unzippered) that are approximately 3.5x3.5 in. It also has 2 elastic bands to hold pens. you can use the rest of this pocket to hold a couple paper backs, your tablet/e-reader (or both), or a file folder (however, the file folder will be a bit too tall and you won't be able to zip the pocket closed). To me, this was an allowable trade-off for a case that can hold a lot of gear and not be bulky. I'm a klutz and the strap has slipped off my shoulder letting the bag hit the ground...my computer is fine.Look and feel:The nylon canvas is good quality (tightly woven). It doesn't look cheap and holds up well (doesn't snag easily or fray easily).Inside the main compartment is a large pocket, this is the one I would recomend to hold file folders and other papers. It is an open pocket, but since it is in the main compartment, you wouldn't need a zipper anyway. This is long enough it could hold a legal sized folder.Padding:The padding is about half an inch thick on all sides except the bottom (opposite of the handle). On the bottom it is a bit thinner. The seams are along the bottom on either side, so the corners aren't as protected.

Awesome Laptop Case!
I love, love, love my laptop case! It's so sturdy, durable and holds my laptop very securely. The padding is great all around, nice and thick; and the shoulder strap is very comfortable and adjustable. The handle is so comfy and "cushiony". I love that it has a very roomy zippered pocket on the front of the case. I can put some small snacks, a bottled drink in there and other things like my laptop charger and mouse. There's 3 little pockets and 2 elastic band holders for pens. Inside the case there is a nice large side pocket for folders and papers, which will stay nice and unbent. It's just perfect. If you get this case, you will not be disappointed, and for the price, it's well worth it!

Good case, very good value
For the money it would be hard to expect more. This case is made of a very durable nylon-type material with strong stitching. It's adequately cushioned and will provide a reasonable amount of shock protection, meaning I wouldn't worry about banging it against a table or counter top while turning but I'm not sure I'd want to drop it from hip-height, especially not on-edge. My 17.3" HP Envy dv7 fits well and since that is a slim laptop there is room for a binder and large notepad along with it in the main compartment and I find that very convenient. It would be nice if there was a 2nd strap for securing the laptop in place inside that compartment, it doesn't make sense to me why there is only one and that one off-center. The outside pocket has enough room for an extra battery (or two) and headphones; I also stuck some pens, blank disks and flash drives in there. I imagine that storage for flash drives is the purpose for the 3 small pockets inside that side pocket, I don't see any other use for them yet. The strap is strong and quite long enough to allow me to sling the laptop around my neck and shoulder, making carrying hands-free easy. I'm very happy with this case and expect to get a lot of use out it.

Fits ASUS G53SW series laptops
After almost ten years, my Belkin laptop bag finally fell apart on me. Compared to that one, which is no longer being produced, the Case Logic bag is much lighter and does not feel as luxurious. There is not as much padding, or as many pockets and pouches and flaps and places to put things. But it fits my laptop (ASUS G53SW-XN1), laptop brick and mouse, plus various things like my phone, Kindle, pens, etc. It does adequately cushion my laptop against bumps and is very comfortable to hold, either by the handle or the long strap. The Belkin bag did not feel weighty in the hands, but combined with a heavy laptop, it was extremely uncomfortable to carry for long treks -- I originally bought it to bring my laptop to classes, but quickly gave up on that. This on the other hand is very lightweight and I don't have nearly as much shoulder and back pain when using it. Overall, it's a great minimalistic case that does what it's supposed to, and for super cheap at that.
