I have a nicd 18 v battery. will this work with this saw?

No it only works with lithium ion. 20 volt batteries.

What kind of battery comparable

It has to be used with the Porter Cable 20v MAX battery, any of them will work either the 1.3 amph (black ones), the 1.5 amph (most common), the 2.0 (only with hammer drill), or the 4.0 amph.

Will this saw be afftective on 16G Duct work?

I do not typically work with Duct myself, so I'm not sure if a saw like this is typically used, however if reciprocating saws are normally used for that application then I would say yes, do yourself a favor though and but replacement metal cutting blades.

will this work with any of the portocable 20v max batteries?

Yes, all PORTER-CABLE 20v Max Batteries will work in the PCC670B.

It has a contoured overmolded handle that is optimized for increased comfort. This tool is part of the 20V Max System - a high performance cordless platform.
