Should work well for light use
I've owned many budget "diamond" sharpeners. This one seems like it is of the quality you can expect from a budget "diamond" sharpening rod. I purchased this rod to sharpen re-curve blades and should work for a while with occasional use. As other reviewers have stated, if you use a budget rod like this often you will wear it out faster than you might expect. Good value for the money.

It works
If you know how to use a honing rod, it'll do the job.

So much better than the round type sharpeners!
This is so much better than the round knife sharpener that came with my knives. Will never go back to those!

Works beautifully
If you've never used one of these, they can be tricky to first get started with. I'd recommend purchasing an inexpensive kitchen knife and use it until you can't cut tomatoes or onions without applying force ( dull knife is dangerous ), then practice on it. Also purchase a honer ( which straightens curled edges ).Sharpen, rinse, and cut. I've been using this for a while on a set of ALDI Crofton knives which are inexpensive and this sharpens them very well.Keep your knives sharp, and I absolutely recommend this sharpener!

Still Uncertain
(Will update in a few months)I bought this as a backup for my 10 year old dexter diamond honing/sharpening steel. I bought it thinking it would be a bit finer in grit. Grit felt less than a 400, but after a few practice runs it appears the super coarse grit had flaked off. It has potential to match my dexter, but only time will tell.

The best for knife edging
This steal puts the best edge on any knife. It is easy to hold as it is the perfect size. The oval shape works well when honing a knife.
