I didn't buy this for shearing sheep. I've done that, and this is a decent set of clippers for the money. However, I bought this to shear a dog that has weird hair. So weird, it'll kill any normal dog grooming clippers. Went through five Wahl clippers in nothing flat. They'd dull down like I was cutting sandpaper with them. These probably shouldn't be used on dogs, unless you really know what you're doing, because you can cut the dog's skin. I didn't want to detract from their rating, because they are pretty good quality sheep shears. If I still had woolly sheep, I would've totally pleased with them. As it was, I wound up buying another more dog oriented style, and they worked better than anything ever has. So, in retrospect: Wahl sucks, these should be used on sheep, and you should look at the kind that don't look like regular barber's clippers. While these definitely cut hair that's difficult. They're a little dangerous for a dog, especially where your dog's back leg meets the body, and the knee area.

I have two pet sheep to keep a horse company. One is a polypay with about 5in thick wool after the winter. She is the sheep we sheared with these. We bought the 600w and the variable speed is super nice and cut thru her wool with ease.

One swipe with this shears on my Nigerian dwarf buck and I was completely convinced I made the right choice in paying $70 for a shears. Great power and shaves so easily! I am not getting paid to do this either.

Cuts great. Loud and gets hot fast. When they suggest to have a container of water near, they mean it. That does the trick to keep going. I was frustrated with expensive dog clippers that wouldn’t cut. These work, just be careful and patient.

Got the clipper for my sheep and it worked great on the first one but within a week it stopped working, after troubleshooting the issue I found out that it works again but only on speed 6 or above anything less and the clipper is dead. I am returning it since I need to be able to adjust to the lower setting when needed.

Too heavy/bulky for a woman’s hand like mine (medium size)

I successfully used this sharp shearing tool for the first time on my sheep. It performed exceptionally well and was easy to operate. The purchase was a worthwhile investment. Furthermore, cleaning and repackaging the tool in its included case was straightforward.
