GoPro makes great products and stands behind them!
I purchased the Hero6 after having constant frustrations with my several year old Drift. I needed an upgrade and GoPro is obviously the industry leader.I want to preface everything here by saying that GoPro customer service is TOP NOTCH. Please read on...I had secured the curved helmet mount as per the directions as I was going on a family ski trip in February. I was super stoked to use my Hero as I'd read so many good things about it. Well, as 'fate' would have it, something did not work out right with the adhesive. I put my helmet down for a second at the top of a slope, put it back on, and raced down the hill. I have all the goodies with the Hero, including the wrist control (which I find is very functional). At the bottom of the slope, I put my hand on my head, and guess what? NO GOPRO. I thought I had lost it somewhere on the slope.Well, as it turns out, it never went down the slope with me...it apparently fell off the helmet and was sitting in the snow. Someone turned it in at the top of the slope but I had no idea...I went down the same slope a few times, looking for it...before I started asking around for it. My wife was angry with me as we spent the whole day looking for the Hero...of course, for the cost, I wasn't going to just walk away. Plus, it was my first day on the slopes and I really wanted it for videos, pics, and everything else... To make a really long story short, the camera was brought to the base of the mountain (Keystone Resort in Colorado) and I was able to retrieve it at the end of the day. This is where GoPro stands out. I was calling them during the day when I got a break and I'm sure they could tell I was both upset and frustrated...after all, I had just spent all this money and I never even got to use it. It'd be easy to say 'this guy is an idiot' at this point, but please remember that I 'cured' the adhesive as per the directions...simply put, something was wrong.Customer service filed a ticket for me and asked me to continue looking for it...which I did. They were polite, concerned, and helpful. We were all happy when I found it and after a few discussions and emails, Go Pro promptly sent me another curved helmet sticky. In addition, they sent me a hand held 'selfie'...they probably felt bad for me and wanted me to never lose the darn thing again. (of course, I got these when I got home). Lucky for me, I had also purchased a chest mount and I used that the rest of the trip. That's my story...so, for the rest of the trip I got great videos and pictures. I love my GoPro and I love the company. They care about their customers and stand by them. Very few companies these days do this...it is very much appreciated. Oh, the voice activation is amazing, BTW...I ended up using this over the wrist control by the last day.Another note: Do NOT buy aftermarket batteries. I did that to save a few bucks and guess what? They worked great when in a room but in the cold, they died almost instantly. When I got home, I returned them and got the GoPro batteries and charger kit...well worth the money. Don't take chances...for a few bucks more, nothing beats quality.I hope this review has helped a few people make an informed decision. GoPro is a great company with high quality products.

Really impressed so far, quality is great and it's easy to use.
This is my first GoPro type camera so I don't have anything to compare it to outside of digital cameras/higher end cell phone cameras. I recently picked up to get some footage of my kayaking trips, and so far I am very impressed. I used it off and on for the first time the other day for a full day fishing trip, and I'm very happy with the results. Since I don't know what I'm doing, I used the default video settings at just a basic 1080p. Other than a couple of shots where the side of my life jacket was in frame (my fault) using the chest rig worked well. The mic picked up my voice well, without having too much other noise, and stabilization is really good even paddling through boat wake. Even the simple 1080 default setting looked really good watching the clips I took on a 24" 1080p monitor later. Operation is really simple... hit a button that's easy to hit to record, hit another to stop recording, hold another to power on/off.Swapping batteries in the middle of the lake wasn't bad, takes a little more effort with cold fingers, but not a huge deal. It just take a bit to get the camera out of the frame case that attaches to the chest rig. It's easy to tilt with the chest rig, and other than for a battery or memory card swap, the camera doesn't need to be removed to do anything. I haven't used any software sans Windows so far, I just plugged the camera into my PC, navigated to the folder with the images in My Computer, copied them to a folder, and watched with the Windows player. All pretty basic and seamless. So far the camera is exactly what I wanted, I'll update the review if I have issues or learn anything else useful to the review, but so far I can't see any reason not to recommend it. Bear in mind you'll be spending some not-insignificant money on accessories, at a minimum extra batteries and memory cards, so keep that in the budget.

Excellent Camera. The Best GoPro I have owned to date by Far!!!!!
This camera is amazing. The quality is unreal. I am coming from a Hero 4 silver, and this doesn't even compare. The quality of the images and videos from this device is crazy. I shot everything in 4K-30FPS to ensure that I had the stabilization. The stabilization works perfectly. You need to buy one of GoPro's suggested SD Cards. The reason being is this camera is writing large files with a lot of information and slower cards can't keep up. I did notice the camera heating up significantly when recording in the carribean, but never had issues with it overheating and shutting off. I also had the camera freeze on me a couple times when it was just sitting not recording where I had to unplug the battery but it wasn't a big deal at all.If you are looking between the older Hero 5 and the Hero 6, buy the Hero 6. The extra money is worth the new features. The GPS feature is awesome with GoPro quick where you can add all different information to your videos such as GPS location, Speed, G-force. It is just amazing.Storage space example - A 32gb Sandisk Extreme card recording 4K-30FPS with Protune enabled will give you roughly 45-55 minutes of recording. A 128gb Card gave me roughly 4 hours. If you move up to 4K-60FPS the recording time drops slightly.Battery Life: Roughly 1 hour to 1.5 hours. I would buy extra batteries. I have 5 in total, 2 genuine GoPro and 3 SmaTree. They all work great. In a full day of video, I at most went through 3 batteries.I could not recommend this camera enough. I hated my Hero 4, from the large case you needed to go in the water to the difficult controls even with the screen, this camera is on another level of great. I am so beyond happy with my purchase of this item. The picture I have included has no-color correction. This was right off the camera with Protune Enabled.
