Great hobby size
Bought on a whim for building model airplanes. For my use on soft woods (balsa and basswood) it’s a fantastic little tool! I used to be stuck with either carving stock to shape with a knife or sanding it down. Only annoyance is the red paint did wear off onto a few work pieces, and the cut depth is fiddling to set.Either way I love the thing and I’m very pleased

For non-serious projects
I would really give it a two star because of its flimsy frame. The blade is not very sharp requiring hard hand pressure which is difficult with the flimsy frame. However, I was making a one and done purchase for the lowest price possible for soft wood. For being the lowest price I can find, I give it another star.

Great tool for hobby
I had one years ago. This is a perfect replacement. Setting the blade is a learning curve. I place a wire of the desired shave thickness under each end and place the planet flat on a smoothe surface. Let the blade drop to the surface and tighten the lock screw. Make a few test strokes to check even thickness.
