The wick seems a tad too thick? do i have to prod it in with something? any ideas? because the original wick is skinnier and looks a tad different

It just depends, if you twist the wicks end it can help. Most times you wont need anything to prod it in

Will these work in a non zippo lighter? But needs the same thing

Yes they should do, I used these in a cheap offbrand lighter and in my zippo and they work great in both!
