Additives are binder-free formulas to adjust paint character of your paint. Unlike acrylic-resin based mediums, they can weaken paint and affect drying or durability if overused. They offer real benefits but be sure to follow the directions for use.

How much additive can I add to my acrylic?

Unlike our other mediums, additives don’t contain acrylic resin—so avoid overuse. Always follow label directions to prevent weakening the paint film or affecting performance.

My acrylic paint dries too fast. What can I do?

Make use of our Slow-Dri additives & mediums to extend color open time and improve workability. Additionally, limit heat and airflow while painting to slow drying time. Avoid thinning acrylic with too much water, as it can weaken paint stability.

Can I add Flow-Aid straight to my acrylic paint?

Flow aid should be diluted 20 parts of water to 1 part additive before using. This allows you to mix your acrylic with a large amount of water, without affecting the paint film or durability, allowing you to create fluid, watercolour-like effects.
