It really does work...
I ordered this with some nervousness given some of the negative reviews, but I have been really pleased with the results. The device itself is only about 5-6 cm long and the end that goes in your nose/ear is about 0.5 cm wide. It is a 2-handed job to use, but I found it is easy to turn the base and move around at the same time. The first time I used it I just inserted it in my nostril and twisted the base and nothing happened. I then realised I needed to move it around (!) and, after experimenting, have found that if I slowly rub it around the inside of the nostril it will cut most of the hairs. I have also found that varying the angle of the device in my nostril helps, for example inside the tip of the nose I have found that holding the device upright and then tipping it forwards and back again gets the best results. I guess the key is to experiment with it and see what works for you. It has cut my nose hairs shorter than anything I have used before and I have had a dedicated electric nose hair trimmer, used a beard trimmer and used little scissors in the past. As some reviewers have noted, it does occasionally pull the nose hairs, however it is only for a tiny fraction of a second and is just a slight nip and the hairs are still cut, i.e. I haven't ended up with hairs caught in it or being ripped out. It does miss some hairs, but I think that is down to the natural 'stickiness' inside the nose. If the hair isn't free then it won't get cut, but if you use this over a number of days then it will get them all as the hairs naturally move around anyway. I normally find my nose hairs very itchy and am constantly scratching my nose as a result. Having had this for a few days I don't think my nose has felt itchy once! I would highly recommend this if you don't mind experimenting to find what works best for you. In summary, it works, it doesn't need any batteries (which is great) and it takes up a tiny amount of space on the bathroom shelf or in a wash bag.

But this does get the occasional use and it really seems like a good quality item
I bought this a while ago and it is still going strong. It does occasionally drag hairs out instead of cutting them which makes my eyes water and for that reason I have gone back to a battery powered effort. But this does get the occasional use and it really seems like a good quality item.

The 'green' alternative?
This trimmer is remarkable effective. Sure, at £14.95, it is more than a battery operated trimmer and you will need two hands to use it (one to hold it and the other to turn the handle that operates the rotating blades) but my bet is that it will last much, much longer. And you won't ever need batteries for it.Perhaps after 10 years you would have otherwise used a dozen batteries and two electric trimmers in that time and so it has the potential to save money.Using my Remington trimmer felt like you have an angry bee buzzing in your nostril. There's no insect filled nose sensation using this manually powered gadget. It's only 6.6cm long and as such won't take up much space in the bathroom. Being made of metal, solid and with a nice weight to it, it feels like a proper, manly accessory. My favourite benefit is that it is completely silent in use. In a locked bathroom no one will ever know that you are using it.It would have been my first (and probably only) trimmer if I have known about it when I started to need such a thing.

I've hummed and I've haaed about this
I've rarely seen an item where the reviews are so polarised. And I'm still humming and haaing. It does work for me ...ish. With a lot of work it does trim nasal hairs. But my regular trimmer is the Philips NT9110- this is far superior, quicker and more efficient.I've kept the Groom Mate because it is such a neat and clever design and would be handy for travelling.

Finally - a reliable nose clipper that works!
Like a lot of reviewers, I've tried countless electric nose clippers.Despite a range of prices and designs, I noticed that they almost all relied on the same small, badly design part: the twin bladed plastic mounted cutter that sits precariously on the electric motor-driven prong. Regularly this would get jammed or require cleaning, and putting it back in was fiddly and eventually lead to it being damaged. I thought about buying a load of spare parts but basically got fed up with spending more time fiddling with the cutters than I did trimming nose hair. I'd given up on the single bladed designs long ago, as I was constantly damaging the lining of my nose!Instead, I gave this manual tool a go as it was at least a different design for the blade. It's a fantastic gadget. Well machined, doesn't pull, cuts well. There is one draw back, in that you need to use both hands but I was much more comfortable to go deeper and up against the lining. It's a cinch to clean - they should supply with a brush, though I have about half a dozen left over from all the failed electric clippers - and very small, so takes up no room in a travel bag.

Not sure this hits the mark.
I guess this thing does a job. I was used to plucking my nose hairs, which was painful but tolerable. Then this started making my nose sore for several days afterwards so I looked for a new solution and this rated well. I didn't realise it was a manually operated thing and to be fair it is a robust little gadget. Does it give me the hair free nose I like? not really, it cuts close but to me the job is a little incomplete. I will persevere with it as I have no choice but I have to be honest and say it is not the solution I hoped it would be.

Selective Trimming
I think most of the people reviewing this item must have shares in the business. I have used this trimmer for over six months. I find it takes several minutes to remove hairs and even then it leaves a few behind. Also, it does not cut them very short. On the plus side it is well engineered and built and will probably last you for a lifetime. I have bought a cheap little Phillips battery powered thing and it does the job in a fraction of the time with a much closer cut and all carried out with one hand (unlike the Groom Mate). No hair pulling either.
