Great
Great, does the job, easy to install, we attached it to the side of the house and it feels strong. I like that it's easy to retract and hide away when not in use

It's a washing line. Simple.
You reel it out and peg your clothes on to dry. There's nothing much else to it.As with anything, I'm sure over time there will be some wear and tear. But if used correctly I'm sure it will last longer than some of the reviews posted.Broken brackets, frayed line, washing on the floor.Don't over load it or run it to the max length. Use a line prop to take the weight of the main reel and don't wrap the line round objects or items which may cause damage to the line itself. Quick to put the line away when not in use and it takes two seconds to take down and store for Autumn and Winter if you don't want to leave it out to the elements. The last one we had was a cheap and cheerful reel line from Sainsbury's and it was £8. It lasted 6 years. This one is much sturdier. Thick plastic and one of the reasons I purchased was the thickness of the cleat at the bottom. So many others are very thin and that's the part that breaks. The line isn't that thick, it's just a standard corded line, no wire core. But it's the same as our previous. Hey as long as I can peg clothes on it I'm happy. If it lasts the next few Spring and Summers, I'll be happy.

Great washing line, really strong and easy to install
Great washing line. Really sturdy. Was worried about it retracting too quickly and being dangerous but it contracts at a decent speed. Strong line, holds wet towels up really well with very little dropping. Very strong. Attaches to the wall really easily with minimal effort and is secure.

Cheap and cheerful but definitely does the job!
So brand names don't always mean as much as they used to, quality of a lot of things has dropped over time so paying £8 for a Vileda washing line I was a little sceptical. It's a good product though, I like the metal end which is more robust than it's plastic counterparts. The fixings make it feel good and sturdy when mounted, the housing for the line feels pretty strong and the line, though thin, is good enough for the price. The two slight negatives are that it definitely needs a prop as the line sags/stretches a lot especially with towels etc. Also the plastic 'foot' under the housing which you wrap the line around to keep it taut looks like it will not last. I can see from the reviews that many have found it breaks easily. But if it lasts the summer it only takes a couple of turns of the screws to unmount the whole line and pop it indoors for the winter to hopefully make it last longer. All in all how can you complain for such a cheap price!

Strong line
This was a replacement as the previous one, the locking protrusion on the bottom had broken. The design has now changed and is a lot stronger. Would have been good if the fitting holes were in the same location, but the were opposite. So had to drill a new hole in the wall.

Dump The Supplied Fixings, Otherwise An Excellent Unit.
Does what it is supposed to.Cheap and cheerful but works well. The line itself is very thin guage, but seems to be strong depsite this. At anything over 5 or 6 metres extension you will probably need a line prop as it does sag quite a lot, but in my experience this is the case with any clothes line. The supplied fixings are my only issue and are, in my humble opinion junk, especially the wall plugs. I was sceptical of their quality when initially fitting and sure enough they failed after a couple of weeks. Dump them and use some decent screws and wall plugs (I used 50mm x 4mm screws and cheap red wall plugs form one of the "catalogue" tool suppliers) and you should be very happy indeed.Overall, definitely recommended.

REDUCED QUALITY - VERY POOR FIXINGS
VERY POOR FIXINGS. See Photo. New one on the left, old one on the right. (same product - just a newer iteration)I bought this to replace the sagging Vileda I bought in 2012 (same product according to Amazon). I thought - wrongly - that I would be able to just unslot the old Vileda from the screws in the wall of the house and slot the new one in but the spacings on the mounting plate are different. New holes drilled in the wall (meaning a bit of a mess with lots of holes in house rendering now. Tried to screw the new one on. Screws are now a lot smaller and a screw head snapped off meaning i now will have to drill a new set of holes but I'm concerned that with the supplied screws being so flimsy, it may not hold the weight of a line of damp clothes. I'm deciding whether to return it and try and find a stronger alternative, or drill the plate to accept thicker stronger screws like before.

Good but has a flaw
Good length cord with metal fixing at the end for strength. However the plastic hook underneath for wrapping cord around to secure line is made of plastic and unfortunately has broken which renders the whole thing useless. This could ideally be a metal fixing to avoid this. Would otherwise be perfect.
