If you are into editing, you need to know this book!
I have bought this while studying Editing & Post Production at university following the suggestion of my lecturer. A very good recommendation. It's a great essay on the art of editing written by a revered editor. I now work as an editor in tv drama and Walter Murch is someone you need to know. Also quoting this book is always a good thing to do when meeting fellow editors.

Still a good book.
I found this book a bit like Marmite; sometimes I loved it, sometimes I wanted to roll around in it, oh wait . . .While it is a bit old school and probably aimed at feature film editing, there are some great ideas in there (the main one being represented by the title) that have definitely helped me in my editing since reading it.

A Brilliant Read For Film Makers And Film Buffs Alike.
A great book for people of all skill levels and interests in film - even just movie buffs! Walter offers both the very interesting origins of physical film editing as well as the dawn of the digital movie age, and the crossover techniques that still exist today with the likes of Spielberg. At the very least there is some great info on editing techniques and understanding when to cut a shot and how to understand confident and nervous acting. There's something for everyone!

Film and Life
A wonderful book written by one of the greats of modern cinema. Much not only explains the art of editing and his approach to it but he also looks into real life and tells stories. It's partly a book about film and partly a book about the experience of Walter Murch. If you have any sort of interest in film you should read this but if you love cinema then you pretty much have to read it.Oh, and it's endorsed by Francis Coppola and George Lucas

Blink and you'll miss it!
I have read a lot of books in my time and Walter Murch's 'In the blink of an eye' is easily one of the best of those!I originally bought this to learn about editing from one of the best which I did but my surprise was in that this book is also a powerful philosophical read on life!Highly recommended!

Not what I was expecting
I bought this book as Murch in an expert in his field and was hoping to extract some good information, about creativity, about techniques, about specific skills to use and refine as an editor. While the book was interesting to read, it was not what I was expecting. It was a nostalgic rant about analogue machines used for editing, and a dissection on pro and cons of the new digital era and editing systems. As I said, interesting to read, but not the reason why I bought it. The actual interesting part was a chapter or so.
